Laser Scanning of Natural and Artificial Snow Packs

Abstract

In an effort to numerically describe a snow pack as a disordered aggregate of irregularlyshaped particles, a new optical analysis system was conceived. The system measures light transmission through snow samples impregnated with an opaque fluid. The analysis of the results is presented.
