Rationalization of Electrical Properties of The NiS2-xSex System

Abstract
The electrical and optical properties of the NiS2-xSex system are interpreted in terms of a band structure diagram that places a Mott-Hubbard, correlation-split Ni 3deg and the S 3pσ* band in the vicinity of the Fermi level. A variety of seemingly problematic experimental findings are resolved by adoption of this hypothesis.
