Common (1952, 1954) found a mermithid that parasitized the bogong moth, Agrotis infusa (Boisd.) during its resting period on the walls of caves in Australia. Nematode material that he collected was given to Dr J. B. Goodey, Rothamsted Experimental Station, Harpenden, Herts, England, who found it to contain two species. This material subsequently was given to me, and on examination each species was found to be undescribed. A description of each follows with a suggested life cycle and some remarks on the unusual parasitism of adult insects by the mermithids. This material permitted a re-examination of the taxonomy of the genus Amphimermis Kaburaki & Imamura, 1932.
