Note 2 in page 622 Arnold's financial accounts for 1862 and 1863 are entered in copies of “Pawsey's London Diary and Almanack.” On 9 June 1862 he recorded having received from the London Review three guineas; during the first quarter of 1863, six guineas; during the second quarter of 1863, two guineas. I wish to express my appreciation to the Yale University Library and to Miss Marjorie Wynne, Librarian of the Rare Book Room, for permitting me to study Arnold's diaries in manuscript.
