1 Published in full in the Cambridge University Reporter, Vol. 74, No. 38, July 1944, pp. 729–30. The most interesting gifts include an album of water-colour sketches and drawings made by Admiral Pelham Aldrich during the Arctic Expedition of 1875–76; Lt.-Cdr. L. C. Bernacchi's log book of meteorological observations made at Cape Adare in 1899–1900; the theodolite used by Bernard Hantzsch during his exploration of Baffin Island in 1909–11 (found in 1941); drawings made by an Eskimo collected by Capt. G. F. Lyon of H.M.S. Hecla, 1821–23; and Cdr. F. A. Worsley's diary of the Endurance Expedition, 1914–16. There have been substantial additions to the library and map room during the year. In particular, mention may be made of a valuable collection of reports on Arctic and cold climate problems from the Arctic Desert and Tropic Information Center of the United States Army Air Forces, from the Harvard Fatigue Laboratory and from the National Research Council of Canada; also of 462 maps and 123 publications dealing with Arctic Canada from the Department of Mines and Resources, Ottawa.
