Cereals are the most important ingredients of diets for pigs in Europe. They supply most of the feed energy and typically half to three quarters of the feed protein, and their nutritive value is correspondingly important to the economy of pig feeding. The purpose of the present work was to examine the interrelationships of yield, nitrogen content and nutritive value in wheat and barley including a number of new varieties.
