On some commercially available single space feeders there is a range of settings to dispense feed at various rates into the trough. The amount of feed which is dispensed into the trough each time a pig operates die mechanism will have an effect on how hard a pig has to work to satisfy its appetite. The feeder setting may also have effects on competition between pigs. In addition, high settings may result in excess feed deposited in the trough, a potential source of feed spillage.
