5 An opposite view was recently expressed by G. Zhordania, who has once more subjected Russian archives to a thorough screening, without, however, eliciting new details concerning the itinerary and activity of the envoy under consideration. While Zhordania's work, . (2 vols.; Tbilisi, 1959), provides a wide and competent, though not exhaustive, coverage of Russian sources dealing with Russo-French relations for the given period, he has not fully utilized non-Russian publications, and has left completely unexplored non-Russian manuscript sources. As regards Russian sources, Zhordania has overlooked A. F. Malinovsky's manuscript study, listed as No. 1110/1307 in the Library of the Archives of the Foreign Office, (Kiev, 1893). These two works are inaccessible to me. Whatever their merit, they have failed to make an imprint on Russian historiography.
