1 Bush wrote a tutorial titled Strict counterpoint in Palestrina style published by Joseph Williams in 1948. The book includes a foreword by his former composition teacher, John Ireland.
2 Bush's Dialectic, op. 15 (1929) serves as an example; however, by the time he completed his Dance Overture, op. 12 (1935), he had firmly returned to his earlier compositional principles.
3 Other concertante works for piano and orchestra by Bush are: the first piano concerto, completed in 1938; the Variations, Nocturne and Finale on an English Sea Song, completed in 1962; and the Song Poem and Dance Poem, completed in 1986.
