Abbreviations

For referring to authors and their works, I have adopted the abbreviations used in LSJ. For the works of Dinarchus and Menander, the list was incomplete, so I have used my own: ‘Din. Dem.’ refers to Dinarchus’ In Demosthenem. For Menander, Dys. = Dyskolos, Epit. = Epitrepontes, Mis. = Misoumenos, Pk. = Perikeiromene, Sam. = Samia, Sik. = Sikyonioi, Theoph. = Theophoroumene.

The following abbreviations are also used:

IGF

Inscriptions grecques de la France. Decourt, Jean-Claude. 2004. Lyon: Maison de l’Orient et de la Méditerranée.

LIMC

Lexicon Iconographicum Mythologiae Classicae. 1981–2009. Zürich: Artemis.

LSJ

A Greek-English lexicon. Liddell, Henry G., Robert Scott and Henry S. Jones. 19409. Oxford: Clarendon Press.

TLG

Thesaurus linguae graecae digital library. Pantelia, Maria C. (director), Irvine: University of California. www.tlg.uci.edu (accessed over the period 2013–2019).
