As reported in this issue's International Reports article “2023 ICDD Annual Spring Meetings – A Hybrid Event” written by Denise Zuill that Dr. Xiaolong Chen and Dr. J. Miguel Delgado were each honored with the designation of ICDD Distinguished Fellow. This award is the highest award recognizing exceptional service to the ICDD. Both Xiaolong and Delgado indeed have contributed greatly to ICDD in many ways for several decades.
Both J. Miguel Delgado and Xiaolong Chen were selected to receive the Distinguish Fellow of ICDD awards, based on their multiple significant contributions to ICDD and in the field of Powder Diffraction. Both continue as ICDD Regional Technical Co-Chairs where they contribute via organizing meetings in their region focused on Powder Diffraction methods and results: Miguel Delgado for the Latin America Region and Xiaolong Chen for the Chinese Region. In addition, each has been a long-serving Editor for this journal – Miguel Delgado since 2001 and Xiaolong Chen since 2007. Both recipients also have served on the ICDD Board of Directors and in other important positions within the ICDD.
The hybrid (in person and via Zoom) March 2023 ICDD Annual Meeting was the first such meeting since COVID restrictions. The meeting was exceptionally active with many of us that were present at ICDD Headquarters being able to meet in person for the first time in years. Do read Denise Zulli's outstanding summary of the meeting (included in this issue of Powder Diffraction) to learn about the many activities, committee meetings, and social events.
