Disruptive innovation and digitalisation challenge the traditional role of universities as primary knowledge producers. Higher education reforms face various challenges in moving to the online world. This chapter explores how higher education can harness digitalisation to provide human capital for the 21st century. The critical assessment of European higher education digitalisation policies and practices is complemented with a study of existing practices of incorporating new labour market demands into the curricula of French Business Schools. The chapter argues that human capital for the 21st century requires curricula that provide a balance between subject-specific and employability skills. In order to promote a better alignment of academic curricula with industry standards educational organizations need to find ways to integrate cybersecurity and the understanding of artificial intelligence technologies in their study offers. These two competences are key for addressing societal challenges. Concomitantly, curricular reforms must not underestimate the importance of developing more basic digital skills for graduates.
