One of the main aims of this paper is to give a large class of strongly solid compact quantum groups. We do this by using quantum Markov semigroups and noncommutative Riesz transforms. We introduce a property for quantum Markov semigroups of central multipliers on a compact quantum group which we shall call ‘approximate linearity with almost commuting intertwiners’. We show that this property is stable under free products, monoidal equivalence, free wreath products and dual quantum subgroups. Examples include in particular all the (higher-dimensional) free orthogonal easy quantum groups.

We then show that a compact quantum group with a quantum Markov semigroup that is approximately linear with almost commuting intertwiners satisfies the immediately gradient- ${\mathcal {S}}_2$ condition from [10] and derive strong solidity results (following [10]). Using the noncommutative Riesz transform we also show that these quantum groups have the Akemann–Ostrand property; in particular, the same strong solidity results follow again (now following [27]).

Hardy space theory has been studied on manifolds or metric measure spaces equipped with either Gaussian or sub-Gaussian heat kernel behaviour. However, there are natural examples where one finds a mix of both behaviours (locally Gaussian and at infinity sub-Gaussian), in which case the previous theory does not apply. Still we define molecular and square function Hardy spaces using appropriate scaling, and we show that they agree with Lebesgue spaces in some range. Besides, counterexamples are given in this setting that the $H^{p}$ space corresponding to Gaussian estimates may not coincide with $L^{p}$ . As a motivation for this theory, we show that the Riesz transform maps our Hardy space $H^{1}$ into $L^{1}$ .

For $0\ltp\le1$, let $h^p(\mathbb{R}^n)$ denote the local Hardy space. Let $\mathcal{F}$ be a Fourier integral operator defined by the oscillatory integral

where $\phi$ is a $\mathcal{C}^\infty$ non-degenerate real phase function, and $b$ is a symbol of order $\mu$ and type $(\rho,1-\rho)$, $\sfrac12\lt\rho\le1$, vanishing for $x$ outside a compact set of $\mathbb{R}^n$. We show that when $p\le1$ and $\mu\le-(n-1)(1/p-1/2)$ then $\mathcal{F}$ initially defined on Schwartz functions in $h^p(\mathbb{R}^n)$ extends to a bounded operator $\mathcal{F}:h^p(\mathbb{R}^n)\rightarrow h^p(\mathbb{R}^n)$. The range of $p$ and $\mu$ is sharp. This result extends to the local Hardy spaces the seminal result of Seeger \et for the $L^p$ spaces. As immediate applications we prove the boundedness of smooth Radon transforms on hypersurfaces with non-vanishing Gaussian curvature on the local Hardy spaces.

Finally, we prove a local version for the boundedness of Fourier integral operators on local Hardy spaces on smooth Riemannian manifolds of bounded geometry.

We estimate the $L^2$-norm of the $s$-dimensional Riesz transforms on some Cantor sets in ${\mathbb R}^d$. Towards this end, we show that the Riesz transforms truncated at different scales behave in a quasiorthogonal way. As an application, we obtain some precise numerical estimates for the Lipschitz harmonic capacity of these sets.

We prove a homogenization formula for a sub-Laplacian are left invariant Hörmander vector fields) on a connected Lie group Gof polynomial growth. Then using a rescaling argument inspired from M. Avellanedaand F. H. Lin [2], we prove Harnack inequalities for the positive solutions of the equation (∂/∂t+ L)u= 0. Using these inequalities and further exploiting the algebraic structure of Gwe prove that the Riesz transforms , are bounded on Lq,1 < q <+∞ and from L1to weak-L1.
