Peer review is the foundation of quality in research for both books and journals, ensuring that published research is rigorous and ethical. In reviewing submissions, we ask peer reviewers to keep the following in mind:
- Please review the recent editorial on the PDM mission statement, which is available here: https://doi.org/10.1017/S1049023X2400061X. This article describes in detail what types of submissions are suitable for PDM.
- Peer-review forms one part of a comprehensive review process. Complete details of the PDM review process are described in this recent editorial: https://doi.org/10.1017/S1049023X25000172.
- 3. Note that all articles will have already undergone initial screening by a member of the Editorial Board to ensure that they are suitable for peer review.
- If you feel you may have a conflict of interest in reviewing the paper, please do not proceed with the review but contact the editorial staff for further clarification.
- Any text placed in the box “Comments to Authors” will go directly to the authors – the editors cannot change this text. In the event of a revision, authors will be required to address each comment in this box. Comments should not be placed in this box unless you are certain that they are accurate and necessary.
- If you are uncertain about any aspect of the article – such as the correctness of a statistical technique – and wish to bring this to the attention of the editor, please use the “Confidential Comments to the Editor” box. Please do not make comments on statistical methods in areas which you are unfamiliar – this makes it very difficult for authors to respond appropriately to the review.
- You are not required to correct the grammar, spelling, or formatting of the manuscript or of the references. If the article is selected for publication, the PDM Managing Editor will perform the final editing and formatting.
- Use of generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools violates the confidentiality of the submitted manuscript which may contain sensitive or proprietary information that should not be shared outside the review process. Please do not use generative AI tools (ChatGPT, Gemini, Llama, etc.) in any capacity while performing peer review.
- Reviewers are asked to refrain from suggesting their own publications be referenced in a manuscript. If you are concerned that reference to your own article is critical to the quality of the submitted manuscript, please contact the journal Editor-in-Chief for advice on how to proceed.
