Summary

Salutem in Christo.

My very good Lord.

I understand there is within the Parish of Whaley a Schoole founded at Clitheroe by Queen Mary, the revenues whereof are much impayred through the defaultes of the Governours. And because in generall the care of all Schooles, but most especially of this concerneth me, I desire to be throughly informed by your Lordship of the true state thereof, and that if the Schoole be at this present voyde of a Master or Usher, I doe hereby pray your Lordship not to admitt of any to eyther of those Places, untill I be made acquainted with the true State of that Schoole. Soe not doubting of your love herein I leave you to Gods grace and rest

Your Lordships very lovinge Freind and Brother.
