from Part V - Two Decades of Research on Orthorexia Nervosa
Published online by Cambridge University Press: 30 October 2024
Orthorexia nervosa has been poorly studied among adults in East Asia, and there is scant information available on the correlates of orthorexia nervosa in non-Western cultures. To the best of the author’s knowledge, four studies were carried out in Mainland China (He et al., 2019, 2021; Li et al., 2022; Zhou et al., 2020), and one case report (Park et al., 2011) and one empirical study (Cho & Hyun, 2020) have been conducted in South Korea. So far, no studies have been published in English on orthorexia nervosa among adults living in Hong Kong, Japan, Macau, Mongolia, North Korea and Taiwan. One case report describing a 13-year-old Japanese girl diagnosed with orthorexia nervosa has been recently published (Yoshimura et al., 2023).
