[251] Agenda for 2 June 1966. The convocation was chaired by the archdeacon in the interregnum. [252] Preconization. Excused: J. Barnes, W. Bolton, F. M. Cubbon, E. L. Morris, Canon Willett.
Matters arising
[253] Ecclesiastical jurisdiction measure. The vicar-general reported that a bill was being prepared to adapt this to the island. The new bishop would be asked to call a special convocation if necessary to consider the proposals. Conversations with Methodists were still going on.
Communications from the acting president
1. The cost of the farewell present to Bishop Pollard amounted to £154/7/10.
2. Rustatt grant applications for clergy orphans should be made to the archdeacon.
3. Diocesan directory. Some parishes had still not paid and more copies are available.
4. The archdeacon had written to Border television protesting that statements made in an interview with the former bishop were inaccurate. The clergy were not the best paid in the church and did not receive £1100 per annum.
5. The pensions board appealed for support.
6. There would be a confirmation at Castletown on 15 July.
Manx Fund
Grants were made to Jurby, Patrick, Onchan, Rushen, Foxdale, Laxey and Bishopscourt.
Tithe and glebe lands committee
This was re-elected.
Magazine committee
The balance had been wiped out by costs. Five more subscriptions were need from every parish. E. L. Morris and W. George resigned from the committee. J. H. Platt and W. S. Robertson were elected in their places.
Bray library
[254] There were nineteen clerical and two lay members; the closing balance was £9/2/6.

Assistant curates’ stipends
The rural dean of Douglas moved that the board of finance be asked to establish a basic scale of stipends for assistant curates (full-time) along English lines, and that they be included in the children's allowance scheme. Both items were passed unanimously.
Leave to take a funeral
J. Peace asked that his motion for the appointment of a full time youth officer be deferred as he had to leave for a funeral. Granted.
