Edmundus, permissione divina Londoniensis episcopus, reverendo in Christo confratri nostro Thomae, eadem permissione Eliensi episcopo, salutem et fraternam in Domino caritatem. Noverit fraternitas vestra reverenda nos literas commissionales et mandatarias illustrissimi et reverendissimi in Christo patris ac domini, Domini Reginaldi, miseratione divina Sanctae Mariae in Cosmedin, sanctae Romanae ecclesiae diaconi cardinalis, Poli nuncupati, sanctissimi domini nostri papae et sedis apostolicae ad serenissimos Philippum et Mariam, Angliae reges et universum Angliae regnum de latere legati, sigillo istius illustrissimi et reverendissimi patris in quadam capsa stanea et cera rubea cum fills sericis rubei coloris compraehenso sigillatas, nuper cum ea qua decuit reverentia, oboedientia et honore recepisse humiliter exequendas, sub eo qui sequitur verborum tenore:

Reginaldus, miseratione divina Sanctae Mariae in Cosmedin sanctae Romanae ecclesiae diaconus cardinalis, Polus nuncupatus, sanctissimi domini nostri papae et sedis apostolicae ad serenissimos Philippum et Mariam, Angliae reges et universum Angliae regnum de latere legatus venerabili et nobis in Christo dilecto Edmundo, episcopo Londoniensi, salutem in Domino sempiternam. Circumspectioni tuae de qua in his et aliis plurimum confidimus ut episcopos et reliquos provinciae Cantuariensis personas ecclesiasticas quae synodis provincialibus de iure vel legitima et hie hactenus approbata consuetudine interesse solent, quatenus ipsi intra competentem arbitrio tuo statuendum terminum praesenti qua Spiritus Sancti gratia inspirante, auctoritate apostolica nobis quomodolibet concessa et commissa qua fungimur cum eadem circumspectione, tua et aliis tarn eiusdem Cantuariensis quam Eboracensis provinciarum episcopis, et reliquis ecclesiasticis quae iam hie adsunt personis, inchoavimus synodo per se, vel si legitimo aliquo sunt impedimento detenti per procuratorem idoneum mandatum legitimum habentem adesse et usque ad eius finem interesse debeant per se vel alium etiam sub certis contra inoboedientes arbitrio tuo comminandis poenis nomine nostro moneas et ad eandem synodum voces eadem auctoritate tenore praesentium committimus et mandamus, contrariis non obstantibus quibuscunque. Datum in palatio apud Sanctum Iacobum prope Westmonasterium anno a nativitate Domini millesimo quingentesimo quinquagesimo quinto, sexto Idus Novembris [8 November 1555], pontificatus sanctissimi in Christo patris et domini nostri, Domini Pauli, divina providentia papae quarti, anno primo.
