Efecto de la carbamacepina sobre la agitación y labilidad emocional asociadas con demencia grave

Resumen
En un estudio prospectivo abierto, se investigaron los efectos estabilizadores de la carbamacepina sobre la agitación, impulsividad y labilidad afectiva en 15 pacientes con demencia grave que no habían respondido a medicación anterior con neurolépticos. El tratamiento de carbamacepina se interrumpió en dos sujetos debido a leucopenia y reacciones alérgicas. En nueve pacientes se observó una mejoría clínica importante.
