Dear readers of the Journal of Natural Language Engineering,

I am delighted to announce that we will be launching a brand new column titled ‘Emerging Trends’. The column will discuss emerging trends that have been gaining traction in recent years and have been identified as bearing high strategic importance within Natural Language Processing, as well as cutting-edge developments in the field that have the potential to achieve high impact. The pieces will be written in an easy-to-follow and accessible style.

I am equally delighted to share with you that Ken Church, a leading figure in our community, agreed to start this column.

I wish the new Emerging Trends column much success.

Prof. Ruslan Mitkov, Executive Editor
