In this work, we consider two sets of dependent variables $\{X_{1},\ldots,X_{n}\}$ and $\{Y_{1},\ldots,Y_{n}\}$, where $X_{i}\sim EW(\alpha_{i},\lambda_{i},k_{i})$ and $Y_{i}\sim EW(\beta_{i},\mu_{i},l_{i})$, for $i=1,\ldots, n$, which are coupled by Archimedean copulas having different generators. We then establish different inequalities between two extremes, namely, $X_{1:n}$ and $Y_{1:n}$ and $X_{n:n}$ and $Y_{n:n}$, in terms of the usual stochastic, star, Lorenz, hazard rate, reversed hazard rate and dispersive orders. Several examples and counterexamples are presented for illustrating all the results established here. Some of the results here extend the existing results of [5] (Barmalzan, G., Ayat, S.M., Balakrishnan, N., & Roozegar, R. (2020). Stochastic comparisons of series and parallel systems with dependent heterogeneous extended exponential components under Archimedean copula. In the literature on active redundancy allocation, the redundancy lifetimes are usually postulated to be independent of the component lifetimes for the sake of technical convenience. However, this unrealistic assumption leads to a risk of inaccurately evaluating system reliability, because it overlooks the statistical dependence of lifetimes due to common stresses. In this study, for k-out-of-n:F systems with component and redundancy lifetimes linked by the Archimedean copula, we show that (i) allocating more homogeneous redundancies to the less reliable components tends to produce a redundant system with stochastically larger lifetime, (ii) the reliability of the redundant system can be uniformly maximized through balancing the allocation of homogeneous redundancies in the context of homogeneous components, and (iii) allocating a more reliable matched redundancy to a less reliable component produces a more reliable system. These novel results on k-out-of-n:F systems in which component and redundancy lifetimes are statistically dependent are more applicable to the complicated engineering systems that arise in real practice. Some numerical examples are also presented to illustrate these findings.

In this paper, we consider finite mixture models with components having distributions from the location-scale family. We then discuss the usual stochastic order and the reversed hazard rate order of such finite mixture models under some majorization conditions on location, scale and mixing probabilities as model parameters.

We investigate stochastic comparisons of parallel systems (corresponding to the largest-order statistics) with respect to the reversed hazard rate and likelihood ratio orders for the proportional reversed hazard rate (PRHR) model. As applications of the main results, we obtain the equivalent characterizations of stochastic comparisons with respect to the reversed hazard rate and likelihood rate orders for the exponentiated generalized gamma and exponentiated Pareto distributions. Our results recover and strengthen some recent results in the literature.

This paper deals with stochastic comparisons of the largest order statistics arising from two sets of independent and heterogeneous gamma samples. It is shown that the weak supermajorization order between the vectors of scale parameters together with the weak submajorization order between the vectors of shape parameters imply the reversed hazard rate ordering between the corresponding maximum order statistics. We also establish sufficient conditions of the usual stochastic ordering in terms of the p-larger order between the vectors of scale parameters and the weak submajorization order between the vectors of shape parameters. Numerical examples and applications in auction theory and reliability engineering are provided to illustrate these results.

We consider coherent systems with independent and identically distributed components. While it is clear that the system’s life will be stochastically larger when the components are replaced with stochastically better components, we show that, in general, similar results may not hold for hazard rate, reverse hazard rate, and likelihood ratio orderings. We find sufficient conditions on the signature vector for these results to hold. These results are combined with other well-known results in the literature to get more general results for comparing two systems of the same size with different signature vectors and possibly with different independent and identically distributed component lifetimes. Some numerical examples are also provided to illustrate the theoretical results.

The main aim of this paper is to present two new results concerning the characterization of likelihood ratio and reversed hazard rate orders between largest order statistics from two sets of independent heterogeneous and homogeneous exponentiated generalized gamma distributed random variables. These characterization results complete and strengthen some previous ones in the literature.

In this paper, we discuss the ordering properties of sample ranges arising from multiple-outlier exponential and proportional hazard rate (PHR) models. The purpose of this paper is twofold. First, sufficient conditions on the parameter vectors are provided for the reversed hazard rate order and the usual stochastic order between the sample ranges arising from multiple-outlier exponential models with common sample size. Next, stochastic comparisons are separately carried out for sample ranges arising from multiple-outlier exponential and PHR models with different sample sizes as well as different hazard rates. Some numerical examples are also presented to illustrate the results established here.

In this paper we derive mixture representations for the reliability functions of the conditional residual life and inactivity time of a coherent system with n independent and identically distributed components. Based on these mixture representations we carry out stochastic comparisons on the conditional residual life, and the inactivity time of two coherent systems with independent and identical components.

In this paper, some ordering properties of convolutions of heterogeneous Bernoulli random variables are discussed. It is shown that, under some suitable conditions, the likelihood ratio order and the reversed hazard rate order hold between convolutions of two heterogeneous Bernoulli sequences. The results established here extend and strengthen the previous results of Pledger and Proschan (1971) and Boland, Singh and Cukic (2002).

To enhance the performance of a system, a common practice employed by reliability engineers is to use redundant components in the system. In this paper we compare lifetimes of series (parallel) systems arising out of different allocations of one or two standby redundancies. These comparisons are made with respect to the increasing concave (convex) order, the hazard rate order, and the stochastic precedence order. The main results extend some related conclusions in the literature.

By considering k-out-of-n systems with independent and nonidentically distributed components, we discuss stochastic monotone properties of the residual life and the inactivity time. We then present some stochastic comparisons of two systems based on the residual life and inactivity time.
