Submissions which, after a first reading, the editors believe to be suitable for inclusion in the journal, are subject to peer review. Articles are reviewed externally in a double-anonymous process. Case notes are reviewed by the editors in a single-anonymous process but may be subject to external double-anonymous review where appropriate. Book reviews are reviewed internally by the editors.
