Anorexia nervosa has an important burden on both patients and families, with important comorbidities such as depression and obsessive symptoms. These are more resistant to pharmacological treatment than in non-anorexia patients, due to both biological and psychological mechanisms. Electroconvulsive therapy is the best available therapy for treatment resistant depression making it a treatment to consider in treatment resistant depression in anorexia though only case reports exist.

To review the current evidence for electroconvulsive therapy of depression in patients with anorexia nervosa as well as it’s ethical challenges

Non-systematic review of the literature with selection of scientific articles published in the past 10 years; by searching Pubmed and Medscape databases using the combination of MeSH descriptors. The following MeSH terms were used: “electroconvulsive therapy”, “anorexia nervosa”.

Electroconvulsive therapy in anorexia has no controlled trials with mostly case reports available on scientific databases. It presents important challenges due to patient age, medical status and ethical challenges. Even less evidence exist for electroconvulsive therapy in children and adolescents than for adults, anorexia can complicate medical status presenting an anesthetic and life-support challenge and it’s egosyntonicity can place a legal and ethical challenge when patient refuses treatment.

Anorexia has a dramatic burden on patients and families affected, with integrated evidence-based treatment being necessary both for treating the current episode and for remission prevention. Case-reports show that electroconvulsive therapy can play a role on treatment resistant depression in anorexia.

No statutory mental health services exist for justice-involved individuals in Pakistan. The lack of expertise in forensic psychiatry serves to deny individuals with mental illness the critical support needed for mental healthcare and adequate court dispositions with serious unintended consequences including capital punishment for those who could otherwise be deemed treatment and not punishment worthy. A landmark judgement by the Supreme Court of Pakistan in February 2021 criticized the lack of forensic psychiatry expertise in Pakistan and directing the development of forensic mental health services and forensic psychiatry training in Pakistan.

A literature review and personal networking facilitated the collection of important data in how justice invloved individuals are supported in Pakistan. The author has published and presented to Pakistani psychiatrists and the Pakistani judiciary on this topic. Queen’s University is aiming to implement a 3-year plan to develop an online curriculum and certificate course to help train the trainers.

In the Pakistan’s most populous province, Punjab, prevalence rates for psychotic illnesses (3.7%), major depression (10%), and personality disorders (65%) among men with higher rates for psychotic disorders (4.0%) and major depression (12%) among women.

In conclusion there is a dire need to develop forensic psychiatry in Pakistan and other low/middle income countries.

An established body of literature has identified that PTSD and dissociation are comorbid. Furthermore, the DSM introduced a dissociative subtype of PTSD into their most recent update; DSM-5.

The current study aimed to examine symptom-level associations between PTSD and dissociation using network analysis among UK Armed Forces veterans resident in Northern Ireland (NI) to identify if there are certain symptoms that may act as bridges between the two constructs.

A large scale cross sectional survey was conducted examining the physical and mental wellbeing of UK Armed Forces Veterans living in NI. The total eligible sample size was 619 (89.8% male), with a mean age of 55.38 years (SD = 10.41). Two networks were estimated, (1) a network consisting of 20 DSM-5 PTSD items and (2) a network consisting of 20 PTSD items and four dissociative items. Expected influence bridge centrality was calculated to examine symptoms with the most/strongest cross-domain associations (i.e. between PTSD and dissociation). The presence of meaningful clustering among symptoms was also explored.

The PTSD symptoms ‘concentration problems’, ‘flashbacks’ and ‘negative emotional state’ had the highest relative bridge expected influence centrality. Of the four dissociative items, ‘gaps in awareness’ had the highest relative bridge expected influence centrality, followed by ‘cognitive-behavioural re-experiencing’. A community structure of five clusters was detected. Four clusters reflected each subscale of the PCL-5 PTSD items and the final cluster reflected the dissociation items.

This study extends our understanding of PTSD and disociation comorbidity by investigating symptom level relationships; potentially informing future treatments and interventions.

In Tunisia, a muslum country, gambling is prohibited and casinos are non-existent or only for tourists with foreign currency. Lately, with the spread of casinos online and sites of sports betting, gambling’s become problematic in Tunisia. People accumulated huge debts with feelings of shame and guilt leading to suicidal attempts.

Studying the link between gambling disorder and suicidal attempts and comparing the different preventive measures proposed for online gambling.

Mr R.A was a 42-year-old man with no family nor personal psychiatric history. He has no history of a particular substance use disorder. He was married and a father of two children and has a regular job.

A year ago, he stated gambling on internet sites using his phone cell and, in several months, he lost a lot of money and accumulated debts.

Lately he committed two attempts of suicide. The first one was by swallowing rat poison. The second one was a month later, by stabbing himself with a knife that caused evisceration and required surgery then an hospitalization in a psychiatric unit.

There’s evidence that GD and SB are associated, although there’s disagreement about the nature of this association. Adequate preventive measures should be considered by governments

Psychiatric emergencies in Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) are characterised by multiple types of symptoms including risk of self-harm and suicidal ideation. S-ketamine intranasally (Spravato) has recently been shown to help alleviate symptoms during depressive emergencies. In this case-series, we detail the clinical effects and usability of S-ketamine applied intranasally in a psychiatric emergency setting.

To describe the effects of S-Ketamine on depressive crises associated with suicidality and self-harm in a psychiatric emergency setting.

Patients with MDD in a psychiatric emergency were provided with intranasal S-Ketamine according to clinical indication in routine clinical care in a University inpatient setting. Clinical characteristics were assessed in a standardised manner and symptom measures were applied pre-and posttreatment. Experience with 10 patients is systematically described in this case-series.

Patients had a primary diagnosis of MDD accompanied by a variety of secondary psychiatric comorbidity. Among these 10 patients, the majority were female (70 %) and the mean age was 49.5 yrs (range 26-66). All cases were considered treatment resistant and suffered severe acute suicidal ideation. Across all cases, pre-treatment MADRS was 37 on average (range 20-47) indicating a severe form of MDD. High severity was confirmed in elevated BDI scores (pre-treatment 39). Post-treatment, MADRS scores were reduced to 18 on average, alongside BDI scores (mean 24). S-ketamine administration was well-tolerated and side effects such as dissociation were of short-lived duration.

S-Ketamine intranasally can be safely and effectively administered in an acute psychiatric setting to treat psychiatric emergencies.

Body dysmorphic disorder (BDD) is a psychiatric illness in which the Patients seeking cosmetic surgery are usually unsatisfied with the outcomes of the surgery. Therefore, it is essential to study this phenomenon and increase awareness among physicians to assess for the presence of BDD before any cosmetic treatment.

To assess the presence of BDD among female patients undergoing cosmetic procedures and improve awareness among providers of cosmetic treatment.

This cross-sectional study uses the adult version of the BDD modification of the Y-BOCS (BDD-YBOCS) scale. Its consists of 12 items related to preoccupied thoughts that participants have about their appearance and the effects that these thoughts have on their lives. Questionnaires were distributed on different online platforms among females living in the eastern province of Saudi Arabia.

Out of the 220 women who participated, 45 had BDD (prevalence rate of 20.5%), a significant and worrying percentage. The result indicates more among participants in the age group of 20–35 years. Also, it revealed positive correlation exists between BDD and females seeking cosmetic procedures.

One-fifth of the participants were diagnosed to be suffering from BDD. Higher rates were observed among women who underwent cosmetic procedures. Therefore, we recommend physicians conduct screening for patients seeking cosmetic procedures before starting any treatment.

There is evidence that metabolic syndrome (MetS) is common in chronic psychosis but also exists in the early stages.

To study the prevalence and course of MetS over a period of 2 year after a first episode psychosis. To determine whether there may be differences in its prevalence according to the type of antipsychotic used over two years.

A sample of 300 patients participate in the PEPsNa Early Intervention Programme. SMet was determined at baseline and at 6, 12, 18 and 24 months. The type of antipsychotic used at each assessment moment is collected (none, aripiprazole, paliperidone, others). Adult Treatment Panel III (ATP III) criteria were used to define MetS.

The prevalence of MetS at baseline is 4.44% and increases to 7.96% at 6 months, 10.1% at 12 months, 8.62% at 18 months and 9.01% at 24 months. The prevalence of MetS increases at 6 (p<0.021) and 12 months (p<0.003) compared to baseline and then remains stable. Only at 6 months assessment there are significant differences (F-Ficher p<0.022) in the presence of MetS (15.8%) in the paliperidone group treatment (oral or LAI).

Metabolic syndrome (MetS) exists from the early stages of psychosis and increases in the first 6-12 months and remains stable thereafter. The type of antipsychotic treatment only seems to have an influence at 6 months, with no differences at other follow-up times.

COVID-19 pandemic assumed as an additional stress factor for people due to extraordinary work conditions, unclear expectations of the future, anxiety about the self-health and health of close people (Samanta et al., 2020; Pascale, 2020). Sport training can be considered as a mean of stress consequences prevention during COVID-19 pandemic (Jimеnez-Pavоn et al., 2020). It is known that moderate physical loads are related to strengthening the immune system and reducing the risk of disease, depression, anxiety (Landers, 1996; Schwellnus et al., 2016). Some authors recommend to maintain an active lifestyle in the COVID-19 period (Mattioli et al, 2020).

The study was held in 62 professionals from different fields, who work remotely during the self-isolation due to COVID-19 pandemic and aimed to estimate sports trainings opportunities as a means of preventing stress of professionals in various fields of activities during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The assessment methods included: 1) author’s questionnaire about the attitude towards sports trainings; 2) A.B. Leonova’s “Chronic fatigue” and “Chronic stress”; 3) Ch. Spilberger’s “Trait anxiety”.

The results revealed that the low level of chronic stress (U=82; p=0,015), chronic fatigue (U=82; p=0,015) and trait anxiety (U=79; p=0,011) is more typical for those surveyed who experienced COVID-19 symptoms and engaged in sports trainings with moderate loads than those people with COVID-19 symptoms who did not attend sport trainings.

The results of the study can be used to develop programs to improve the psychological well-being and performance of professionals working under stress due to COVID-19 pandemic.

According to international publications the burden of mental diseases is considered to be significant and rising.

Scope of analysis is to present 1) patient numbers and 2) direct mental health costs from the database of the National Health Insurance Fund Hungary for patients with F00-F99 ICD code between 2015-2019.

An Oracle database was created with direct mental care costs for each patient in a given year with a three-digit ICD code and type of care (primary, specialist, prescribing) and handled via sql queries. Data on capacity and performance came from the NHIF and NSO website for 2008-2019 and were handled via Microsoft Excel.

Mental problems affected 3 million people (more than 30% of the population) in a five year period, though patient numbers are continuously declining. Almost half of the patients only visit a general practitioner and don’t get a prescription. There is also a drop in proportional mental spending which has fallen from 5,03% to 4,02%. This tendency is accordance with international findings. There is a dramatic fall of inpatient cases and a growing number of outpatient interventions, though we see a move from individual therapy sessions to group interventions and a decline in specialist psychotherapy sessions. We can see a shift towards more young patients both in inpatient and outpatient setting.

The analysis raises the question whether declining patient numbers and shrinking proportional spending are due to smaller provider capacities and unmet need or a mentally healthier population.

Ireland has been one of the worst affected countries affected by COVID-19 in Europe. Many primary studies from Ireland have documented prevalence of anxiety and depressive disorders during the pandemic and their correlates.

To study the prevalence range of anxiety and depression in Ireland, and their correlates during the pandemic.

We systematically searched Pubmed, PsycInfo and the WHO COVID-19 global research database using key words ( January 2020 - September 2021). We removed duplicates and extracted data into an excel database and carried out a narrative synthesis of the extracted data.

From a total 127 studies, we included 22 studies that met our criteria in our narrative review. Depending on the tool used and the type of population studied, the prevalence of general anxiety disorders varied between 20% and 49.5% while prevalence of depressive disorders ranged between 20.4% and 53.8%. Younger people, health care workers, those who had to give up physical activity, people who had lost income, those who lived alone, infected by COVID-19, or had a higher perceived risk of the disease had a higher prevalence of both anxiety and depression disorders during the pandemic. There was conflicting evidence on prevalence levels among men and women and on whether they had children or not.

COVID-19 has had a profound effect on the mental health of the Irish population. Some population groups are more affected than the others. Addressing mental health concerns of Irish population during and post pandemic should remain as one of the top public health priorities.

The phenomenon of love in the clinical field, in other words, the practical love through specific features, is the “ultimate investment” of the well-being, both to the patient and to the health professional.

The aim of this research study is to investigate the role of love and its connection with burnout in the context of clinical professional care.

The study was cross-sectional and was conducted from September 2020 to February 2021 at the Nursing Department of University of Ioannina, Greece. The sample of the present study was determined to be health professionals, both sex from all over Greece. The research tools which were used in the quantitative study were: 1) Socio-demographic questionnaire, 2) Measurement of social representations of love and 3) Maslach Burnout Inventory - MBI.

The results of the present quantitative research showed that gender, religion, family environment, place of residence, years of work and job position of health professionals affect the love and compassion they can show and offer to their patients, and the love is related to the level of burnout they experience (p <0.05), in the context of clinical occupational care.

In conclusion, love, its traits and expression of the feelings of health professionals, determine the level of clinical care and the burnout of health professionals.

Compared to the general population, people living with schizophrenia spectrum disorders (SSD) are more likely to perpetrate acts of violence. When this happens, family members (informal carers) are most commonly the victims. However, family violence by people with SSD is often a taboo topic and largely neglected within public discourse, research, and clinical domains. Consequently, our understanding of families’ experiences and support needs are limited.

To develop a detailed understanding of the subjective experiences, and impact, of patient violence towards family carers.

Individual semi-structured interviews were held with family carers of adults with SSD and a history of violence perpetration towards their family carer. Interview data were subject to thematic analyses using NVivo software.

Twenty-one UK based carers that were predominately White British (90%) and female (81%) were interviewed. Key themes highlight the range of physical and mental injuries endured by carers following patient violence, and speak to carers’ experiences of suffering, living in a constant state of hypervigilance, as well as social isolation in the context of shame, stigma, and an absence of professional and informal support.

Family violence by people living with SSD can and does happen. Yet, too often, carers are left with no option but to continue supporting their relative in the absence of support, even in contexts where this compromises their own safety. The devastating impact of violence is far-reaching, across all levels of the family-system. The findings highlight the danger of neglecting family violence by people with SSD in research and clinical fields.

Visual perceptual deficit commonly occurs in people with schizophrenia. The Test of Visual Perceptual Skills-4th Edition (TVPS-4) is a motor-free visual perceptual measure, which includes seven subtests: visual discrimination, visual memory, spatial relationships, form constancy, sequential memory, visual figure-ground, and visual closure. However, convergent validity and ecological validity of the TVPS-4 is largely unknown, which limits its use in clinical and research settings.

The purpose of this study was to examine convergent validity and ecological validity in people with schizophrenia.

Ninety-nine people with schizophrenia were assessed the TVPS-4, the Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE), the Behavioral Assessment of the Dysexecutive Syndrome (BADS), and the Activities of Daily Living Rating Scale III (ADLRS-III). To evaluate convergent validity, Pearson’s r were calculated among the TVPS-4 and two cognitive measures (the MMSE and the BADS). To evaluate ecological validity, we computed correlation (r) between the TVPS-4 and the ADLRS-III.

The TVPS-4 total score showed moderate correlations with two cognitive measures (r=0.65-0.70). The seven TVSP-4 domains revealed moderate correlations with two cognitive measures (r=0.42-0.69). Moderate correlation (r=0.56) was found between the TVPS-4 total score and the ADLRS-III. Moderate to high correlations (r=0.33-0.61) were noticed among the seven TVPS-4 domains and the ADLRS-III.

The TVPS-4 has good convergent validity and ecological validity in people with schizophrenia. The multiple domains of the TVPS-4 are useful to comprehensively identify visual perception deficits in people with schizophrenia. The TVPS-4 can adequately exhibit the degree of living independently in people with schizophrenia.

Schizotypy is associated with increased vulnerability to schizophrenia spectrum disorders. Therefore, investigation of its brain correlates seems prominent for better understanding of schizophrenia-spectrum continuum as well as for development of biological treatments for schizotypal personality disorder. Functional alterations of prefrontal cortex (PFC) and their associations with clinical symptoms are well-known to exist in schizophrenia. However, their relevance to schizotypy remains unclear.

The aim of the study was to check for associations between schizotypal traits in a non-clinical sample and whole-brain functional connectivity (FC) of lateral as well as medial PFC (lPFC and mPFC, respectively).

Eighty-two healthy individuals (52 females, mean age 24.8±5.48) filled out the Schizotypal Personality Questionnaire (SPQ-74) and underwent resting-state fMRI (3T). Seeds in lPFC and mPFC were taken from frontoparietal and default mode networks (atlas by Yeo et al., 2011). We analyzed correlations between four schizotypal factors (cognitive/perceptual, paranoid, negative, and disorganization; Stefanis et al., 2004) and whole-brain FC of the seeds (statistical threshold: p<.001 voxelwise; p[FDR]<.05 clusterwise).

Cognitive/perceptual factor (‘Odd beliefs/magical thinking’ and ‘Unusual perceptual experiences’ SPQ-74 subscales) is negatively correlated to FC of bilateral mPFC with a cluster in the right cerebellum (Crus 1, 2).

Prefrontal-cerebellar dysconnectivity may be one of the neurobiological factors underlying positive-symptoms-like schizotypal traits in non-clinical subjects. To some extent, it coincides with the data on associations between functional features of these brain structures and positive symptoms in schizophrenia (Pinheiro et al., 2021; Goghari et al., 2010).

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of morbidity and mortality in bipolar disorders(BD). The heart age of patients with BD was found to be 8.5 years higher than gender-age matched health controls. Metabolic side effects of antipsychotics, poor diet, insufficient physical activity, smoking and sedentary life style increase the risk of cardiovascular disease in bipolar patients. QRISK-3 is an approved risk classification that calculates the 10-year risk of developing a heart attack or stroke.

This study aims to determine whether there is a difference between cardiovascular disease risk scores and clinical stages of bipolar disorder

35 outpatients that were followed up in Selcuk University Medical Faculty were evaluated. The clinical stages and qrisk3 scores were calculated.

68.6% (n:24) of the patients were female. 42.9% of patients were in stage 3b (recurrent relapses, complete remission between episodes). The mean age was 36.94 ±10.46 years. The mean heart age was 50.54±17.35. The mean Q risk3 score was 5.59±8.18. There was no difference between bipolar patients at stage 2 and stage 3 in terms of age(p=0.36 and gender(p=0.73). When we compared the qrisk3 total socres and heart age of the patients in stage 2 and 3, we could not find any difference between groups (p=0.74, p=0.57 respectively).

Even though we could not find any difference of qrisk scores at different clinical stages of patients with BD, the CVD risk increases with the age. Prospective longitudinal follow-up studies are required to evaluate dual interaction of clinical stages and CVD risk in BD.

European Federation of Psychiatric Trainees (EFPT) is a platform for psychiatric trainees from not only Europe but also various other countries. EFPT exclusively works on binding clinical practice and science for better mental health care. Research Working Group (RWG) of EFPT works on sharing knowledge with peers by brainstorming, collaborating and coordinating projects, organizing journal clubs and workshops.

We will focus on tele-psychiatry also known as e-mental health, a subdivision of telemedicine, provides diagnostic interview, evaluation, therapies, psycho-education and treatment. We plan The Brain-Drain follow-up study, investigates immigration of psychiatric trainees. Also educational activities have planned.

With a questionnaire on the topic of psychiatry residents’ acceptance of tele-psychiatry using The Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT), we will hold the first multi-national survey among psychiatry residents. The Brain-Drain study was conducted by the EFPT-RWG in the past had a promising outcome. We are currently working on the follow-up of the study. We are starting to hold events. For instance we will commence the monthly journal club. Apart from giving a platform for scientific debate, journal club will also provide a chance have a elaborate discussion with author. We will organize a workshop on how to write a case-study with Neuro-Psycho-Pharmacology Working Group of EFPT.

We assume diverse attitudes overlapping different telepsychiatry exposure and regualtions, comprehensive data on immigration of trainees and sharing knowledge on practice and research.

Hopefully, we will have clearer understanding of changes in working environment of trainees either with new technologies or in different countries.

Depressive symptoms are common in individuals with tinnitus, however, the mechanisms of their interaction are not fully understood. There is neurobiological evidence that might help understanding the interplay between tinnitus and depression which, in turn, helps in making the right choice for treating both conditions.

This case report describes a 70-year old female patient that presented with tinnitus and depressive symptoms lasting for the past 5 years.

The patient showed limited treatment results with different antidepressants. The otorhinolaryngologist ruled out any possible somatic causes of her tinnitus. Tinnitus was causing her sleep disturbances, which worsened her everyday functioning that was already quite poor even further.

After being administered with 30 rounds of TMS, her symptoms either completely resolved or at least reached a level that was adequate for her to start functioning normally on a day-to-day basis.

TMS is a technique that provides non-invasive cortical stimulation, more specifically, when used for depression treatment it stimulates the left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex, a brain region synaptically connected to the limbic system involved in mood regulation that is proven to be hypoactive in depression. The limbic system is where tinnitus-related brain networks and regions involved in the pathophysiology of depression overlap. Further research is needed to deepen the understanding of this topic.

Cancer survivors frequently report suffering from neurocognitive impairment, that persists after physical recovery from their disease. Cognitive impairment is associated with important emotional disturbances, socio-professional consequences and diminished quality of life.

This observational study aims to assess the effectives of an integrative neurocognitive remediation therapy (iNRCT), offered as a 12-week program (1day/week), organized within our Cognitive Remediation Clinic. The iNCRT combines personalized computerized cognitive training and neurocognitive strategy training, with group sessions of physical exercise, mindfulness, and cognitive behavior therapy (CBT).

The assessment before and after NCRT includes neuropsychological testing (10 subtests), assessment of daily functioning and subjective neurocognitive function (NCF).

Out of 16 eligible cancer survivors, 12 patients were recruited and 11 completed the iNCRT; median age 53 years [range, 41-71]; 3 patients had a prior history of a central nervous system tumor, 5 patients of breast cancer, 2 patients of stage-IV melanoma, and 1 patient of gastric cancer. After iNCRT subjective NCF did not improve significantly (p=0.13) according to the Cognitive Failure Questionnaire. However neuropsychological assessment revealed an improvement on ≥ 1 impaired subtest in all patients; 6 patients improved on ≥ 4 impaired subtests. Improvement was most prominent in long-term verbal and visual memory, working memory and executive function. All patients reported a clinical benefit in their daily function after completion of iNCRT.

Our iNRCT, which combines personalized neurocognitive training with physical exercise, mindfulness and CBT can be an effective therapeutic model for treating neurocognitive impairment in cancer survivors, with a clinically relevant impact on their daily function.

The COVID-19 pandemic currently remains the most significant stressor affecting the global population. Researchers continually report widespread mistrust and negative attitudes towards vaccination, but only a little focus on its association with the emotional well-being.

We aimed to investigate the attitudes towards vaccination against COVID-19, as well as its relationship with well-being and religiosity after one year of the pandemic duration amongst Polish students.

We conducted an anonymous online cross-sectional survey between 12th April – 1st June 2021 amongst Polish students (n=1202). To evaluate emotional distress, we used the Depression, Anxiety, and Stress Scale-21 (DASS-21), for measuring spirituality/religiosity we used The Duke University Religion Index.

The highest rate of vaccinated individuals was noted in a group of medical students (69.9%), the lowest - among responders studying science (1.9%). Students who wanted to be vaccinated had higher levels of depressive, anxiety, and stress symptoms compared to those who were already vaccinated (p=0.04); they also had higher depressive symptoms than unvaccinated and unwilling participants (p=0.028). Students who didn’t want to be vaccinated against COVID-19 showed the highest religiosity compared to those who would like to be vaccinated (p<0.001) or were vaccinated (p=0.003). There was a negative correlation between the level of religiosity and severity of depressive and anxiety symptoms (p=0.002).

The concept of cycloid psychosis has a long tradition in European psychiatry since it was introduced by Kleist in 1926. Nevertheless, this concept is not included explicitly in modern classifications, leading to a controversial discussion about its utility in current psychiatry.

Starting from a case study, we intend to review the evolution of cycloid psychosis concept and analyze its role in modern psychiatry.

Non-systematic review of the literature and report of a case study.

Following Kleist’s work, Leonhard described the three overlapping subtypes, and later Perris developed the first operational diagnostic criteria. Since then, this entity has shown a high diagnostic stability, validity and a good predictive diagnostic and prognostic value. We report a case of a 30-year-old woman, previous heathy, without regular medication, living with her parents and 5-year-old son, until she emigrated alone to Switzerland. After 10 days abroad, she was sent back to Portugal, and after organic disease and drug misuse exclusion, she was admitted in our inward with a clinical picture of perplexity, anxiety, thinking and behavioral disturbance with persecutory and poisoning delusions, auditory hallucinations, and total insomnia. Following rapid and full recovery, she was discharged 14 days later while being medicated with Paliperidone 3 mg/day and Lorazepam 4 mg/day, which was abandoned by her 2 months later, without relapse of the symptoms.

The current lack of a satisfactory system for categorizing acute, and remittent psychoses seems to be reason enough to remain awareness of this unique diagnostic entity, which is worthy of further investigation.
