Article processing charges (APCs)
This journal is a wholly open access journal, which means all articles are published Gold Open Access under a Creative Commons licence In many cases the costs of publishing Gold Open Access articles are covered by institutional open access agreements. If you are not covered by such an agreement, another option is for an article processing charge (APC) to be paid, typically by your funding body or institution. This journal also supports Gold Open Access through equity initiatives and APC waivers and discounts, in order to ensure that no author will face a financial barrier to publication. Please see this journal's open access options for full details.
For cases where an APC is required, please see the table below for this journal’s APC rates (additional taxes may apply).

Waiver policy
We want to ensure that everyone is able to publish in IJTAHC, regardless of their funding availability. Therefore, for those authors that do not have funding available, or are not covered by a Transformative Agreement, our waiver policies are listed below:
- Editorial waivers: There are no APCs for the following article types: Editorial, Letter, In Memoriam, Abstract, Acknowledgements, Correction / Corrigendum / Erratum
- Transformative Agreements: If the corresponding author’s institution is covered by one of Cambridge University Press’ Transformative Agreements, authors will not pay an article processing charge. You can check your eligibility for an APC waiver or discount using our tool checker here.
- The Cambridge Open Equity Initiative (COEI) funds Gold OA publishing for authors from over 100 low- and middle-income countries, covering over 5,000 institutions. Eligibility is automatically established during the publication process and no Gold OA fees will be charged if the corresponding author of a research article is based in one of these countries.
- Research4Life: If the corresponding author is from a country on the Research4Life eligibility list, they will receive an automatic full waiver (Group A countries) or 50% discount (Group B countries) of the article processing charge.
- Discretionary waivers and discounts: Any corresponding author of a research article who does not have coverage through an open access agreement, an equity initiative, or outside funding to pay an article processing charge (APC), can make a request for a discount or full waiver of an APC by filling out a waiver request form. This form can be completed at any point during the publication process, including after their article has been accepted.
More information about open access waivers and discounts can be found on the journal's Open Access Options page.
