Let be a commutative ring containing a primitive $l'$th root $\varepsilon $ of $1$. The infinitesimal q-Schur algebras over form an ascending chain of subalgebras of the q-Schur algebra , which are useful in studying representations of the Frobenius kernel of the associated quantum linear group. Let be the quantized enveloping algebra of $\mathfrak {gl}_n$ over . There is a natural surjective algebra homomorphism $\zeta _{d}$ from to . The map $\zeta _{d}$ restricts to a surjective algebra homomorphism $\zeta _{d,r}$ from to , where is a certain Hopf subalgebra of , which is closely related to Frobenius–Lusztig kernels of . We give the extra defining relations needed to define the infinitesimal q-Schur algebra as a quotient of . The map $\zeta _{d,r}$ induces a surjective algebra homomorphism , where is the modified quantum algebra associated with . We also give a generating set for the kernel of $\dot {\zeta }_{d,r}$. These results can be used to give a classification of irreducible -modules over a field of characteristic p.

In this paper, we study the positivity property of the tangent bundle $T_X$ of a Fano threefold X with Picard number $2$. We determine the bigness of the tangent bundle of the whole $36$ deformation types. Our result shows that $T_X$ is big if and only if $(-K_X)^3\ge 34$. As a corollary, we prove that the tangent bundle is not big when X has a standard conic bundle structure with non-empty discriminant. Our main methods are to produce irreducible effective divisors on ${\mathbb {P}}(T_X)$ constructed from the total dual VMRT associated to a family of rational curves. Additionally, we present some criteria to determine the bigness of $T_X$.

In this paper, we completely determine the composition factors of the permutation module $\mathbb {F}[{\mathbf G}/{\mathbf B}]$ for any field $\mathbb {F}$.

Fujino gave a proof for the semi-ampleness of the moduli part in the canonical bundle formula in the case when the general fibers are K3 surfaces or abelian varieties. We show a similar statement when the general fibers are primitive symplectic varieties. This answers a question of Fujino raised in the same article. Moreover, using the structure theory of varieties with trivial first Chern class, we reduce the question of semi-ampleness in the case of families of K-trivial varieties to a question when the general fibers satisfy a slightly weaker Calabi–Yau condition.

This paper contains a method to prove the existence of smooth curves in positive characteristic whose Jacobians have unusual Newton polygons. Using this method, I give a new proof that there exist supersingular curves of genus $4$ in every prime characteristic. More generally, the main result of the paper is that, for every $g \geq 4$ and prime p, every Newton polygon whose p-rank is at least $g-4$ occurs for a smooth curve of genus g in characteristic p. In addition, this method resolves some cases of Oort’s conjecture about Newton polygons of curves.

Let $f:X\to Y$ be a surjective projective map, and let L be a holomorphic line bundle on X equipped with a (singular) semi-positive Hermitian metric h. In this article, by studying the canonical metric on the direct image sheaf of the twisted relative canonical bundles $K_{X/Y}\otimes L\otimes \mathscr {I}(h)$, we obtain that this metric has dual Nakano semi-positivity when h is smooth and there is no deformation by f and that this metric has locally Nakano semi-positivity in the singular sense when h is singular.

Let R be a discrete valuation ring of field of fractions K and of residue field k of characteristic $p> 0$. In an earlier work, we studied the question of extending torsors over K-curves into torsors over R-regular models of the curves in the case when the structural K-group scheme of the torsor admits a finite flat model over R. In this paper, we first give a simpler description of the problem in the case where the curve is semistable using recent work in Holmes, Molcho, Orecchia, and Poiret (2023, Journal für die Reine und Angewandte Mathematik [Crelle’s Journal] 230, 115–159) and Molcho and Wise (2022, Compositio Mathematica 158, 1477–1562). Second, if R is assumed to be Henselian and Japanese, we solve the problem of extending torsors by combining our previous work together with results in Antei and Emsalem (2018, Nagoya Mathematical Journal 230, 18–34) and Phung and Dos Santos (2023, Algebraic Geometry 230, 1–40), including the case where the structural group does not admit a finite flat R-model.

Given an algebra and a finite group acting on it via automorphisms, a natural object of study is the associated skew group algebra. In this article, we study the relationship between quasi-hereditary structures on the original algebra and on the corresponding skew group algebra. Assuming a natural compatibility condition on the partial order, we show that the skew group algebra is quasi-hereditary if and only if the original algebra is. Moreover, we show that in this setting an exact Borel subalgebra of the original algebra which is invariant as a set under the group action gives rise to an exact Borel subalgebra of the skew group algebra and that under this construction, properties such as normality and regularity of the exact Borel subalgebra are preserved.
