Two different crystalline structures corresponding to a zinc adipate and a zinc succinate were determined combining: X-ray powder and single-crystal diffraction, infrared spectroscopy, thermal analysis, and true densities experiments. The zinc succinate crystal structure was determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. This compound crystallizes in the orthorhombic space-group Cccm with unit-cell parameters a = 4.792(1) Å, b = 21.204(6) Å, c = 6.691(2) Å, V = 679.8(3) Å3, and Z = 8. Zinc adipate crystal structure was refined from the laboratory X-ray powder diffraction data by the Rietveld method. It crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P2/c with unit-cell parameters, a = 16.2037(17)Å, b = 4.7810(2)Å, c = 9.2692(6)Å, β = 90.329(3)°, V = 718.07(9) Å3, and Z = 4. The thermal expansion of it was estimated in 5.40 × 10−5 K−1. This contribution is a step on the way to systematize the regularities in the coordination diversity between linear dicarboxylates and transition metal–inorganic buildings units of metal–organic frameworks.

X-ray powder diffraction data, unit-cell parameters, and space group for monomenthyl succinate, C14H24O4, are reported [a = 19.352(2), b = 30.015(1), c = 5.277(0) Å, α = β = γ = 90°, unit-cell volume V = 3065.1(6) Å3, Z = 8, and space group Pba2]. All measured lines were indexed and are consistent with the Pba2 space group. No detectable impurities were observed.

X-ray powder diffraction data, unit-cell parameters, and space group for drospirenone, C24H30O3, are reported [a = 12.897(1) Å, b = 12.618(1) Å, c = 12.252(1) Å, α = β = γ = 90°, unit-cell volume V = 1994.13 Å3, Z = 4, ρcal = 1.229 g cm−3, and space group P212121]. All measured lines were indexed and are consistent with the P212121 space group. No detectable impurities were observed.

Experimental X-ray powder diffraction data, unit-cell parameters, and space group for trelagliptin succinate, C18H20FN5O2•C4H6O4, are reported [a = 18.481(6), b = 8.120(4), c = 7.903(4) Å, α = 89.972(0)°, β = 97.722(4)°, γ = 90.120(0)°, unit-cell volume V = 1175.37 Å3, Z = 2, and space-group P1]. All measured lines were indexed and are consistent with the P1 space group. No detectable impurity was observed.

The dibromo-dioxo-(1,10-phenanthroline-N,N′)-molybdenum(VI) complex (C12H8N2MoBr2O2) was prepared from molybdic acid and 1,10-phenanthroline using hydrobromic acid as solvent. The molybdenum complex solid was separated by filtration and washed with ethyl ether. The X-ray powder diffraction pattern for the title compound was analyzed and found to crystallizes in monoclinic system, space group P21/c (No14) with refined unit-cell parameters a = 12.036 (1), b = 9.819 (1), c = 12.671 (2) Å, and β = 110.44° (1). The volume of the unit cell is V = 1403.2 (3) Å3.

The title compound, the 4-phenyl-6-(trifluoromethyl)-3,4-dihydroquinolin-2(1H)-one (4) with chemical formula: (C16H12F3NO), was synthesized from N-[4-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]cinnamamide (3), chemical formula: (C16H12F3NO), through an intramolecular cyclization mediated by triflic acid. Preliminary molecular characterization of both compounds was performed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, gas chromatography mass spectrometry, and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (1H, 13C); crystallographic characterization was completed by X-ray diffraction of polycrystalline samples. The title compound 4 crystallized in a monoclinic system and unit-cell parameters are reported [a = 16.002 (3), b = 5.170 (1), c = 17.733 (3) Å, β = 111.11 (2)°, unit-cell volume V = 1368.5 (3) Å3, Z = 4] P21/c (No. 14) space group; the title compound 3 crystallized in a monoclinic system and unit-cell parameters are reported [a = 12.902 (2), b = 5.144 (1), c = 20.513 (5) Å, β = 91.67 (2)°, unit-cell volume V = 1360.7 (4) Å3, Z = 4] P21/c (No. 14) space group.

2-[((3R)-5-oxo-4-phenyltetrahydrofuran-3-yl)methyl]isoindoline-1,3-dione, C19H15NO4, was synthesized for the first time. Its structure was characterized by element analysis, ultraviolet spectrometry, nuclear magnetic resonance, and single X-ray diffraction (SXRD). X-ray powder diffraction (XRPD) data of title compound were collected and calculated. The result of SXRD shows that its crystal system is orthorhombic, space group is Pbca, and unit-cell parameters are a = 8.861 57(7), b = 14.6666(10), c = 24.4247(19) Å, α =β =γ =90°, unit-cell volume V = 3174.4 Å3, and Z = 8. All XRPD measured lines were indexed and consistent with the Pbca space group [a = 14.639(7), b = 24.378(3), c = 8.918(1) Å, α = β = γ = 90°, unit-cell volume V = 3182.7(9) Å3, Z = 8]. No detectable impurities were observed.

A new quaternary compound AlCeCo2Ni2 was synthesized and studied by means of X-ray powder diffraction technique. The powder pattern of AlCeCo2Ni2 was indexed and refined, giving a hexagonal structure, space group P6/mmm (No. 191) with the CaCu5 structure type. a = 4.9242(2) Å, c = 4.0524(1) Å, V = 85.1 Å3, Z = 1, ρx = 7.85 g cm−3, F30 = 130.2(0.010, 30), and RIR = 0.71(2).

There has been some confusion in the published literature concerning the structure of Metastudtite (UO2)O2(H2O)2 where differing unit cells and space groups have been cited for this compound. Owing to the absence of a refined structure for Metastudtite, Weck et al. (2012) have documented a first-principles study of Metastudtite using density functional theory (DFT). Their model presents the structure of Metastudtite as an orthorhombic (space group Pnma) structure with lattice parameters of a = 8.45, b = 8.72, and c = 6.75 Å. A Powder Diffraction File (PDF) database entry has been allocated for this hypothetical Metastudtite phase based on the DFT modeling (see 01-081-9033) and aforementioned Dalton Trans. manuscript. We have obtained phase pure powder X-ray diffraction data for Metastudtite and have confirmed the model of Weck et al. via Rietveld refinement (see Figure 1). Structural refinement of this powder diffraction dataset has yielded updated refined parameters. The new cell has been determined as a = 8.411(1), b = 8.744(1), and c = 6.505(1) Å; cell volume = 478.39 Å3. There are only subtle differences between the refined structure and that of the first-principles model derived from DFT. Notably, the b-axis is significantly contracted in the final refinement as compared with DFT. There were also subtle changes to the U1, O1, and O3 atom positions. Tabulated powder diffraction data (d's and I's) for the Metastudtite have been derived from the refined model and these new values can serve to augment the PDF entry 01-081-9033 with a more updated entry based on observed X-ray powder diffraction data.

Apixaban (Eliquis®) is a novel oral pyrazole-based direct FXa inhibitor. The title compound is an intermediate in the synthesis of the anticoagulant, Apixaban. X-ray powder diffraction data for the title compound, are reported [a = 9.511(5) Å, b = 18.539(2) Å, c = 5.645(3) Å, α = 90°, β = 101.813(1)°, γ = 90°, unit-cell volume V = 974.28 Å3, Z = 2, ρcal = 1.336 g cm−3, and space group P2]. All measured lines were indexed and are consistent with the P2 space group. No detectable impurities were observed.

N-acylamino acid isomers: ortho, meta, and para-methylhippuric acids, are specific xylene metabolites. Here, we report X-ray powder diffraction data, unit-cell parameters, and space groups for the three isomer (C10H11NO3), [ortho-methylhippuric acid 2 mHA, monoclinic P21/n cell, a = 8.522(1), b = 10.443(1), c = 10.734(1) Å, β = 92.43(1)°, V = 954.5(1) Å3; meta-methylhippuric acid 3 mHA, monoclinic C2/c cell a = 20.0951(2), b = 10.485(1), c = 10.074(2) Å, β = 119.08(1)°, V = 1933.9(1) Å3; para-methylhippuric acid 4 mHA, orthorhombic P212121 cell, a = 5.1794(7), b = 8.279(1), c = 22.276(2) Å, V = 955.2(2) Å3], space group. In each case, all measured diffraction peaks were indexed and are consistent with the corresponding space group.

X-ray powder diffraction data, unit-cell parameters, and space group for olmesartan medoxomil, C29H30N6O6, are reported [a = 12.3969(7) Å, b = 21.2667(3) Å, c = 10.9603(5) Å, α = γ = 90°, β = 101.38(9)°, unit-cell volume V = 2832.72 Å3, Z = 4 and space group P21/c]. All measured lines were indexed and are consistent with the P21/c space group. No detectable impurities were observed.

X-ray powder diffraction (XRPD) data for Palbociclib, C24H29N7O2, are reported [a = 18.182(2) Å, b = 11.508(1) Å, c = 5.041(1) Å, α = 81.282(7)°, β = 97.423(7)°, γ = 102.415(2)°, unit-cell volume V = 1013.1(4) Å3, Z = 2, and space group P-1. All XRPD measured lines were indexed and no detectable impurities were observed.

Polycrystalline Sm0.55Sr0.45MnO3 was prepared by solid-state reaction at 1300 °C. Single phase of the compound was analysed by a powder X-ray diffraction technique. The powder pattern of Sm1−xSrxMnO3 was indexed and refined using a General Structure Analysis System (GSAS) to an orthorhombic structure with space group Pnma, a = 5.4323(7), b = 7.6585(4), and c = 5.4343(7) Å.
