The social media platform Reddit is a contemporary context where we have an opportunity to identify problems experienced by people regarding different aspects of life. The platform is virtually anonymous which might make users discuss their problems more freely. Reddit is divided in subreddits where different subjects are discussed and the discussions are controlled by creators and moderators. I have identified a quite active subreddit targeted towards recovering addicts of benzodiazepines; r/benzorecovery.

Technically, what is done in this study, is adding mark-up metadata to different discussion. A rudimentary form of analysis suitable with a larger digital corpus where content metadata is added (Gilliland Swetland 2000). The metadata is constructed through a hermeneutical method in which the researcher analyses the subreddit.

Answering question like: Example: DIY-tapering; different ways to limit drug use by using less. 1) how common are discussion of taperings in relation to other subjects? 2) Is tapering commonly discussed together with other subjects and techniques?

Using a method of categorization and metadata mark-up we could gain a good understanding of the problems among recovering benzodiazepine addicts. We will also have the possibility to identify concepts that addicts themselves discuss and relate these to professional concepts thus creating better possibilities of communication between professionals and clients.

Community Perinatal Mental Health Services (CPMHS) have been established in the UK, however, there is limited research around their real-world effectiveness. Post-Partum Psychosis (PPP), a severe episode of affective psychosis usually occurring soon after birth, has known risk factors. CPMHS offer assessment and interventions for women with risk factors for PPP, with a view to reducing the risk of its occurrence, as well as, where necessary, to proactively manage the illness to minimise the impact on the mother-infant dyad, as well as associated risks to self and/or others.

To review the rate of PPP in women with established risk factors, who were referred and managed by our CPMHS between September 2019-September 2021. This rate will be compared with the known rates of PPP reported in the literature. Rates of non-psychotic relapse, acute hospitalisation, children social care supervision and mother-infant separation as a result of postnatal relapse will be (amongst others) secondary outcomes. Perinatal interventions offered to reduce the risk of PPP and contingency planning will also be reviewed.

This will be a retrospective case review study involving women referred and cared for by our CPMHS from October 2019 to October 2021, with known risk factors for PPP. Women identified as high risk for PPP receive consultant led-care in our service, therefore cases will be identified via the individual caseloads. Subsequently, electronic case notes will be reviewed to determine the primary and secondary outcomes, as well as the perinatal interventions that were offered.

When speaking of behavioral addictions (especially to the Internet and social media), it is emphasized that it is not the environment that is the main contributor to addiction, but rather certain behaviors and personality traits.

The aim of this study was to assess the level of Internet and social media addiction on the example of Facebook with regard to psychological and social factors.

This survey-based study involved a group of women representing the female population in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship, Poland (N = 556). Research instruments were a self-developed questionnaire concerning sociodemographic data, the De Jong Gierveld Loneliness Scale, the Beck Depression Inventory, the Internet Addiction Test, and the Bergen Facebook Addiction Scale.

Age, depressive symptoms, loneliness were the variable contributing to Internet and Facebook addiction among the studied. Available studies confirm the results of their own research.

Depressive symptoms and dependence on the Internet and Facebook were more common among single women. In the employed women, we only observed higher levels of Internet and Facebook addiction. The level of dependence on the Internet and Facebook was higher among younger women. Loneliness correlated with Internet and Facebook addiction, and more severe depressive symptoms entailed higher levels of Internet and Facebook addiction.

Successful stabilization of patients with mental disorders requires most of the times the use of more than one antipsychotic medications with increase prevalence of clozapine in refractory cases. Constipation consists one of the most debilitating side effect of the therapy, which gradually progresses to a chronic state of bowel movement dysfunction, with recurrent episode of paralytic ileus of various severity.

We describe the case of a middle age male treated with clozapine for refractory mental disorder, who developed ileus and subsequent bowel dysfunction not amenable to laxatives.

The acute episode have been treated conservatively with nasogastric decompression, intravenous replacement of fluids and electrolytes, antibiotics chemoprophylaxis and low molecular weight heparin. His overall physical status was unremarkable for obesity, diabetes, hypertension, allergies, previous operations and a former endoscopic evaluation conducted in the recent past, which had ruled out malignant neoplastic disease.

A course of per os prucalopride have been instituted, which showed preliminary promising results in restoring proper bowel movements, without any serious side effect and without the need to discontinue his course with antipsychotics. Prucalopride is a 5 HT4 agonist which selectively binds to the receptors of the intestine, resulting in muscular contractions as well as clorium secretion from the mucosa promoting an osmotic defecation.The substance has been extensively use in the treatment of irritable bowel disease of the chronic constipation type.

We suggest the more systematic use of this agent in this group of patients after proper endoscopic evaluation and restoration of all secondary causes of constipation.

Maintaining remission, preventing from future episodes, better treatment adherence and improving the quality of life are main aims of long-term treatment in bipolar disorders (BD). In recent years, new generation long-acting injectable (LAI) antipsychotics have been frequently used in maintenance treatment for bipolar disorders.

We aimed to review socio-demographic and clinical characteristics of bipolar patients taking LAI treatment for maintenance treatment.

Clinical records of 44 bipolar patients who are on LAI treatment and followed in Mazhar Osman Mood Clinic (MOMC) of Selcuk University Medical Faculty were evaluated.

Nearly half of the patients were male (n:24, 54%). 43,2% of the patients were married. The mean age was 36.6±11.9 years and the mean duration of education was 11.5±3.9 years. All of the patients were diagnosed with bipolar 1 disorder. Most of the patients (65.9%) was on aripiprazole LAI while remaining was receiving paliperidone LAI for maintenance treatment. Ten of the patients discontinued the treatment due to the side effects and extrapyramidal side effects was the most common side effect. Relapse was observed in 25% of the patients and there was no difference between aripiprazole and paliperidone in terms of relapse rate.

LAI new generation antipsychotics are taking place in long-term treatment of bipolar disorder via improving treatment adherence. Side effect profile of aripiprazole and paliperidone are different. However, we could not find any difference between two drugs in terms of side effects and relapse rates. Small sample size and shorter duration of follow-up should be considered as limitations.

The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has caused major sanitary crisis worldwide. Frontline healthcare workers face many difficulties, such as: direct exposure to patients with high viral load, physical exhaustion, reorganization of workspaces, face the unusually high number of deaths among patients, colleagues or relatives and ethical issues in a tense health system.

Provide up-to-date information of Burnout syndrome associated with exposure of healthcare workers to the COVID-19 pandemic, after almost 20 months of the declaration of pandemic by the World Health Organization.

A cross-sectional study was carried out that included 84 healthcare workers from Spain in October 2021, through an anonymous, voluntary and multiple response type online survey which included questions about sociodemographic aspects and the Maslach burnout inventory

62% were doctors and 29% were nurses. 70% work on the front line of Covid-19. 38% report not having been able to enjoy their vacations when they wanted. 8% admit to having had suicidal ideas. Almost 52% admit low personal fulfillment, 38.6% admit a high depersonalization count, and 45% report high emotional exhaustion. Of the total sample, 17 respondents have burnout syndrome.

It is necessary create strategies to promote mental well-being in health professionals exposed to COVID-19 after 20 months of active work. Protecting and identifying health care professionals who could be at high risk for developing a mental health pathology or detecting Burnout syndrome in them should be the priority of public health post pandemic.

Polypharmacy can be the cause of deliberate discontinuation of medication and consequent relapse of schizophrenia.

To establish the one-year rate of relapse in the patients with schizophrenia with regard to monotherapy or polypharmacy.

The sample of all hospitalized patients with schizophrenia in a five-year period was analyzed. Descriptive statistics were used.

Total of 87 participants (57 women), the median age was 43 years. Antipsychotic monotherapy was used in 31 (35.6%) of the participants. In one year period, 32 (36.8%) of all participants had a relapse. Prior to relapse, significantly more participants were treated with polypharmacy (p<0,05).

Antipsychotic polypharmacy is related to a higher rate of relapse in patients with schizophrenia.

Social dysfunction is a significant feature of schizophrenia leading to deminution of quality of life (QoL).

To explore the correlation between social functioning and quality of life in patients diagnosed with schizophrenia.

The study sample comprised 32 patients diagnosed with schizophrenia (24 males and 8 females) recruited from the Clinic for mental disorders “Dr Laza Lazarevic” in Belgrade, with a mean age of 41.28 years (min 24, max 62), assessed by the Social Functioning Scale (SFS) and the World Health Organization Quality of Life questionnaire (WHOQOL-BREF).

There were two significant quasi-canonical positive correlations between social functioning and QoL (1: f-test=16.4, p=.001; 2: f-test=23, p=0.0001.) The first structure is formed through the set of SFS subscales- Recreation, Independence-performance and Independence-competence and set of QoL subscales- Mental health, Physical health, Environment and General assessment of QoL. The second structure is formed through the set of SFS subscales- Interpersonal functioning and Social engagement/withdrawal and the set of QoL subscales- General assessment of QoL and Environment. Furthermore, the first canonical component indicates a greater overlap of the opposition set by social functioning (23%) which leads to the assumption that the direction of influence goes from social functioning to QoL. Due to the equality of redundancy in the second canonical component, the direction of influence can only be inferred on the basis of the first canonical component.

Social functioning and quality of life are related in patients diagnosed with schizophrenia, and this relationship is based on specific subfactors within those areas.

The study of ideas about death and the mechanisms of their formation in adolescents with suicidal behavior is an important task for both diagnosis and psychotherapy. The parents’ notions of death, and the prohibition on discussing the topic of death in the family, can significantly distort the adolescent’s relationship with death.

Investigate differences in attitudes towards death in parents and adolescents who apply to the crisis care room of a child psychiatric clinic.

The study involved 90 adolescents with their parents who applied to the crisis outpatient care system. The following questionnaires were offered: Death Attitude Profile-Revised, Death Anxiety Scale, Experiences in Close Relationships-Revised, Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support, GAD-7.

Significant differences were found for most of the scales in the samples of adults and adolescents, of particular interest to us were the scales “death avoidance” (W=317,500,z=3,089,p=0,002) and “perception of family support» (W=288,500,z=3,393,p=0,001). For the group of adolescents, there are higher indicators on the scales of anxiety (W=61,000,z=-2,546,p=0,011), anxiety in close relationships (W=83,000,z=-2,549,p=0,011), avoidance of close relationships (W=28,000,z=-3,870,p=0,000), and death as a means of escape (W=54,500,z=-3,076,p=0,002).

In families of adolescents with suicidal behavior, the severity of dysfunctional patterns of building close relationships and the presence of sharply opposite positions in relation to death in children and parents are observed without the possibility of discussing this topic.

The state of knowledge from scientific literature will be presented from biologic perspective, psychopathology and social context in development of agression.

The aim of this presentation is to create a bio-psycho-socio model of agression.

The literature research in risk factors of aggressive behaviour was done, and the results grouped in three domains biologic, psychologic and social. A didactic bio-psycho-socio model was constructed.

The complex picture of aggressivity could be distorted if we reduce understanding to a narrow super-specialization perspective. This presentation enlarge approach with genetic, endocrine, neurologic, psychologic and sociologic perspective. All this data will be include in a schematic bio-psycho-socio model, and describe the application in mental health practice in understanding the patients with psychiatric disorder. The main result will be a Bio-psycho-social model of aggressive behavior, which could be helpful in understanding and predicting aggressive behavior.

We have been using LAB (Buvidal) in Cardiff after its pandemic use was funded by Welsh Government.

We wished to review the benefits of introducing LAB (Buvidal) into treatment during the pandemic.

This service development review of the first 73 patients treated with LAB (24mg/96mg rapid titration Welsh protocol) was analysed using Kaplan-Meier survival curves.

43 (58%) male, 30 (41%) female. <25years=1, 38 (52%) aged 25-40, 34 (47%) 40-55. Prior to LAB 14% (10 people) using Espranor, 8% (6) Buprenorphine, 28% (20) Methadone. 50% (36) illicit opiates (mainly Heroin). We had continuous data for patients for up to 9 months of LAB. Two stopped for non-discontinuation reasons: One wanted to detox, one died of natural causes (LAB-unrelated). Both were excluded from discontinuation rate analysis. 55 people have data for over a month. Of these, 11 discontinued treatment. 80% remained on LAB for 1 month or more [95%CI 67-90%]. Kaplan-Meier plots showed similar discontinuation rates when comparing different OST programmes or none prior to LAB, and comparing by age, sex and initial illness severity (CGI severity). These rates all far exceeded data for traditional OST. CGI scores dramatically improved, even at one week. By month 2 all scores “much improved” or “very much improved”.

Buvidal (LAB) has 80% retention rates, regardless of underlying prescribed/illicit opioid /demographics. The commonly held belief that those on heroin are further from Recovery than those more stable on OAD may be incorrect. LAB may be a more acceptable and useful first line therapy that other OSTs

Increase in affective and somatic complaints during pandemic is considered as related to experienced stress (Wang et al., 2020, Roy et al., 2020, Robillard et al., 2020). Expression or suppression of emotions related to pandemic could affect the vulnerability of people to stressful situations (Gross, Thompson, 2007, Roberts et al., 2008).

The aim was to reveal a role of suppression / expression emotions regarding pandemic in the changes in somatic and affective complaints in people without coronavirus during lockdown.

In May 2020 110 people 18-65 years old (61.2% females) without coronavirus appraised their strategy of dealing with different emotions regarding pandemic on the 1-5 scale from emotional expression to hiding and suppression (Cronbach’s alphas) and 26 somatic and emotional symptoms including sleep-related symptoms, daytime functioning, affective symptoms, general physical condition (Cronbach’s alphas .81-.90). In December 2020 they reappraised 26 complaints.

There were no statistically significant changes in somatic and affective complaints during May-December 2020 (p>.20). Increase in sleep-related complaints (β=.23, p<.05, ΔR2=5.0%) and complaints regarding general physical condition (β=.32, p<.05, ΔR2=10.0%) were more pronounced in those reporting higher expression of emotions related to COVID.

People with higher emotional reactivity to pandemic situation tend to report increase in sleep-related problems and general worsening of their physical condition during lockdown. Research is supported by the Russian Foundation for Basic Research, project No. 20-013-00799.

Oral health behavior is based on an acquired experience and cultural traditions. University education may smooth out cultural differences in oral health practice.

Our goal is to study self-reported oral health attitudes and behavior of university students and the cultural basis for it.

We used the English version of the Hiroshima University Dental Behavioral Inventory to carry out an online survey of 136 university students of Morocco and Russia.

Over half of the students (60.3%) do not feel anxious when visiting a dentist. Most of them take care of their gums (41.2%), teeth color (49.3%) and the degree of their cleanness (38.2%). The overwhelming majority of the students brush their each tooth very thoroughly (62.5%), they regularly examine their teeth in the mirror after brushing them (90.4%). They are well aware that tooth brushing alone cannot prevent a gum disease (63.2%), and they feel concerned about the possibility of having bad breath (73.6%). At the same time, over half of the students (61.7%) put off their visit to a dentist until they have a toothache, which is a negative behavioral factor. We did not reveal any gender or cultural differences between the students of the two countries, which can be regarded as a universalization factor of oral health behavior in young people who get higher education in universities.

The majority of the surveyed Russian and Moroccan university students have similar patterns of oral health attitudes and behavior. This assumption needs verification on a larger sample of students.

Play activity has been studied from a scientific point of view relatively recently. Until the middle of the twentieth century, any games were considered only as a way of leisure and/or a tool for transmitting cultural experiences.

The research is aimed at studying play activity as a factor of mental development of a child.

In psychology, the interest in the role of games in the psychological development of a child is primarily associated with the works of Z. Freud, J. Piaget, L.S. Vygotsky, D.B. Elkonin, who showed the importance of children’s imitation games: role-playing, directing, event-based (classification of E.O. Smirnova).

Since the 90s of the XX century, this hobby is becoming ever more common. At first, modern board games were created by adults for adults, and then there appeared board games specially designed for adults to play with children (family games) and for playing children’s groups.

Most of the board games popular with parents belong to the German school. Such games are characterized by relatively simple rules, a short or medium duration of the game, no direct confrontation between players and a low randomness in the course of the game (for example, Carcassonne, Catan, Ticket to Ride, etc.).

German-style board games develop children’s communication skills, voluntary activity, abstract and formal-logical thinking, symbolic function, attention, the ability to cooperate (in cooperative games), imagination, and many games develop the child’s outlook and enrich the ideas about the world around and options for social interaction.

The prevalence of substance use disorder has rapidly increased recently. It is believed that the occurrence of mental disorders is strongly associated with substance use.

To identify prevelance of different psychiatric mobidity & symptomatology as Comorbidity amon the diagnosed patients of Substance Use Disorder

This study was conducted from June till December 2021. A total of 486 PDUs were recruited for this study. A self-administered questionnaire was distributed among PDUs admitted at the Rehabilitation Centre during the period of the study. The questionnaire inquired about the demographic details of the PDUs, their substance history and the occurrence of any MDs.

The mean age of the PDUs was 25.9 + 6.0 years. A total of (95%) men and (5%) women reported their gender. There were single (74.7%), married (23.1%), divorced (1.4%) and separated (0.7%) PDUs. A large majority of the PDUs (n = 159, 55.6%) had been using different drugs for more than three years. The various MDs reported among the PDUs were delusion (n = 100, 35.2%); paranoia (n = 51, 17.8%); mania (n = 36, 12.6%); depression (n = 156, 54.5%); (n = 100, 35.2%); auditory hallucinations (n = 73, 25.7%); visual hallucinations (n = 106, 37.3%) and anxiety (n = 46, 16.2%). Among 164 cannabis users, hallucinations (n = 35, 21.3%; p = 0.04) was the only significant MD.

Delusion and paranoia were amongst the most highly prevalent MDs reported. The occurrence of auditory hallucinations, mania and paranoia were significantly associated with cannabis, heroin and cocaine use, respectively.

The lack of a standardised definition for the concept of TRD and an adequate criteria for therapeutic response make difficult the management of patients with MDD who do not achieve remission with one or more courses of treatment. All classifications suggested to define TRD are arbitrary, partially evidence-based, subordinated to the pharmacological findings of the time in which they are written and with serious inconsistencies, making it difficult to construct a universal and enduring diagnostic system.

Considering that the most important goal in treating a patient with Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) should be remission and return to previous functionality, the search for a standardised, evidence-based classification system will allow timely and effective interventions leading to the reduction of this devastating condition.

The proposed therapeutic algorithm arises from the combination of several fundamental principles for the management of treatment-resistant depression: the different classification systems of the concept, as well as the concepts of response, relapse, recurrence and remission; the scientific evidence found in the current literature, routine clinical practice, knowledge of switching and augmentation strategies, the new pharmacological targets and neurobiological hypothesis discovered, without forgetting finally the different clinical profiles of depressive symptomatology and the specific indications of each antidepressant.

Resistant depression is difficult to treat successfully and is not a uniform entity. Recently there has been a move to characterise treatment-resistant depression as ‘difficult-to-treat’ depression on the basis that the former description implies that depression treatments are normally effective and that non-response is therefore somehow abnormal.

Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) is recognized as an effective treatment for anxiety disorders. Transdiagnostic group CBT (tCBT) targets cognitive and behavioural intervention strategies common to anxiety disorders. tCBT allows the treatment of a larger number of patients simultaneously and therapists only need to master a single intervention protocol. However, tCBT may present several challenges for therapists, particularly regarding group management.

To explore therapists’ perceptions and experience of group management during tCBT for mixed anxiety disorders.

A qualitative study embedded in a randomized controlled trial of group tCBT (Roberge & Provencher; CIHR, 2015-2021). Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 18 of the 21 therapists to document their perceptions and to identify improvements for tCBT delivery. The data were analyzed using a deductive approach and based on the interactive cyclical process of data reduction, display and conclusion drawing.

Therapists raised the challenge of the heterogeneous characteristics of participants’ anxious profile, since they had to be creative to provide exercises that were suitable for a whole group. Exposure exercises, a key component of tCBT, were particularly affected by the composition of the groups. Previous group animation experience and the ability to establish a therapeutic alliance from a group perspective were important facilitators. Co-therapy also facilitated the intervention, since it allowed the therapists to be more vigilant to group dynamics and favored the organization of tCBT.

This study highlights the importance of exploring therapists’ perceptions and experience about group management in order to identify facilitators and barriers of group tCBT in community-based care.

Uterine cancer is the most common gynecologic malignant neoplasm in developed countries. While depression is up to 3-5 times more common in patients with cancer than in the general population, literature is still limited regarding the relation between Endometrial Cancer and depression.

To analyze Depression among Endometrial Cancer hospitalizations in mainland Portuguese public hospitals (2008-2015).

A retrospective observational study was conducted using administrative data from all hospitalizations in Portuguese mainland public hospitals between 2008-2015. All women’s hospitalizations(≥18 years) with a primary diagnosis of Endometrial Cancer (ICD-9-CM 182.x) were selected. Secondary diagnosis of depression was identified with ICD-9-CM 296.2x, 296.3x and 311x codes. Surgical procedures codes 68.4x, 65.6x, 40.3x, 40.5x, 68.6x, 68.9x and 68.8x were used to divide the hospitalizations into surgical vs non-surgical. Groups were compared with Pearson Chi-square test and crude odds ratio(OR) was used to estimate the association between surgery and depression.

From 10227 hospitalizations with a primary diagnosis of Endometrial Cancer, 533 had a registry of depression(5.2%). Annual depression frequency rose from 2.0% (2008) to 8.3% (2015). Among patients with a record of depression, 73.2% had surgery. Women who had surgery were significantly more likely to have registered depression (p<0.001). The OR for depression in surgical vs non-surgical patients was 1.73 (95%IC:1.42-2.10).

Patients hospitalized due to Endometrial Cancer and submitted to surgery had almost two-fold more risk of having a registry of depression. This trend reinforces the importance of early depression screening of these patients, enabling the implementation of timely therapeutic strategies before and after surgery.

Background :The profile of “frequent visitors” at the psychiatric emergencies (PE) has not been sufficiently investigated in Greece.

In this study we aimed to investigate the prevalence and relevant parameters of frequent PE visits in a Greek University Psychiatric Hospital for the year 2017.

In a retrospective study, we analyzed data of patients who presented in the PE of Eginition University Hospital in Athens during 2017. Frequent visitors were grouped under this category if they had at least five visits per year. Clinical and sociodemographic data of the patients were further related to number of visits.

84 patients were characterized as frequent visitors carrying out 9.8% of the total number of visits. 50% were women and 70% of them were living with family members. Anxiety, depressive and psychotic symptoms were the most frequent major complaints at the time of their visit, whereas psychosocial problems were associated with increased number of visits. Moreover, in terms of the underlying diagnosis substance use disorders significantly related to more frequent visits

Psychosocial problems and the diagnosis of substance use disorders significantly correlated to the number of visits at the PE of a university hospital setting in Greece for 2017.

Autism spectrum disorders (ASD) are a group of neurodevelopmental disabilities causing major social, communication, and behavioural challenges. Although causative roles of altered genes and environment are recognized, the underlying mechanisms remain elusive.

We carried out a longitudinal analysis of morphological correlates of synaptic plasticity in the cortex with an array of neuro-behavioural tests in Tsc2 loss-of-function ASD rats with persistent mTORC1 hyperactivity.

Dendritic spine density and morphology with astroglial response were analysed along with behavioural tests in 45 d.o., 90 d.o. and 12 m.o. age groups maintained under standard or enriched conditions.

We report a higher density of spines, with a bigger proportion of thin spines in 90 d. o. Tsc2+/- rats, while under enrichment the spine density in 12 m.o groups was lower. In behavioural tests, rats under enrichment showed higher activity in open arms and anogenital contact tests in the second and third age groups. They also showed enhanced self-grooming. Total distance travelled in the open field by Tsc2+/- rats was less in the first and second age groups. Confocal imaging showed an increase in pS6 expression in second and third Tsc2+/- groups, implying mTORC1 hyperactivity.

Our results show that the environment may have differential neuro-behavioural impacts in rats with unleashed mTORC1, in agreement with the two-hit mechanisms of the underlying neuro-behavioural effects in this model. Although the results of the morphometric analysis suggest a causal link between behavioural changes with altered synaptic plasticity, the mechanisms and involved signalling remain to be defined.
