Healthcare professionals report about anxiety, depression, and fear during pandemic COVID-19 worldwide. Resilience becomes the high-powered important mechanism that reduces stress impact on the emotional state of healthcare professionals.

We suggested that effective resilience is associated with less COVID-19’s fear, as well as less anxiety, and depression; healthcare professionals’ mental health depends on age, gender, as well as involvement in the care of patients with COVID-19.

211 healthcare professionals participated in the study and were evaluated with the Connor-Davidson Resilience 10-item scale (CD-RISC-10), Fear of COVID-19 Scale, PHQ-9, GAD-7.

A negative correlation between resilience and fear of COVID-19 (p≤0,01), anxiety (p≤0,01), and depression (p≤0,001) was found. Positive correlations were found between depression, anxiety, and fear of COVID-19 (p≤0,001), between age and fear of COVID-19 (p≤0,05). No statistically significant association between age and depression, anxiety, or resilience was found. The significant difference of COVID-19 fear depending on gender – female vs male (p≤0,05) was found. No statistically significant difference in resilience and emotional state in healthcare professionals depending on the involvement in the care of patients with COVID-19 were found.

Resilience is associated with better mental health in healthcare professionals during the COVID-19 pandemic. Anxiety and depression are connected with the fear of COVID-19 and highly comorbid in healthcare professionals. The elder age and female gender are among the risk factors for a more deteriorated mental state. Fear of COVID-19, mental state, and resilience are not associated with healthcare professionals’ involvement in the care of patients with COVID-19.

Fifty years ago, the estimated prevalence of autism was 30-60 per 10,000; now, it has increased to 18.5 per 1,000. Autism disorders are 4.3 times as prevalent among boys as among girls.

This systematic review provides an overview of the management of AD with Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation.

A systematic review was conducted using (“Autism spectrum disorder” AND “Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic stimulation” AND “RTMS” OR “Children and adolescent”) in PubMed, Embase, and PsycINFO, resulted in 453 hits and finally qualified 18 studies.

We found 18 eligible studies, 8 randomize controlled clinical trials, 10 non-controlled clinical trials comparing TMS effects with waiting-list controls (n = 6), sham-treatment (n = 8) and no control group (n=4). There was a significant reduction of repetitive, stereotyped behaviors, irritability, social behavior, and executive function improvements with a medium-size effect. Eleven studies in this review had a moderate to high risk of bias due to small sample size, lack of blinding to treatment, and inadequate follow-up period. Four studies reported the stability of these gains in clinical outcomes for more than six months with no clarification after that.

The data encourages the potential safety and efficacy; it provides significant evidence to support TMS’s efficacy in symptom severity reductions and improved clinical outcomes in children with autism. Therefore, future large-scale randomized controlled trials are required to conclude intervention efficacy in a larger sample size further.

Various social problems, financial difficulties and academic factors contribute to the fact that more and more students around the world experience mental health problems (Chen et al., 2013; Gotlib et al., 2019). On the other hand, all the sides of students’ lives – from education to family relationships – are mediated by information communication technologies, that may have broad and ambiguous influence on students mental health. What is undoubtedly that youth mental health can no longer be considered without touching on the digitalization, including in education.

The current study aims to point up positive and negative examples of intersection of education digitalization and mental health of modern youth.

Theoretical analysis of research publications and conceptualization of practical applications in education mediated by digital technologies.

A striking example of the negative impact of total digitalization of education was the sharp deterioration in mental health in the context of the transition to fully distant learning in conditions of the spread of coronavirus infection. Positive education as teaching form for both traditional skills and positive functioning and happiness provides a broad opportunities to combine the concepts of positive psychology with cutting-edge high-tech education approaches.

Digitalization of modern education can be accompanied by both mental health risks and new opportunities. Mental health support can be based on finding information about good functioning, learning and participating in community activities that are provided through websites and mobile applications. The use of selectiveserotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) is an independent risk factor for bleeding events. Antidepressants and oral anticoagulants (OACs) are often prescribed together as depression and anxiety often coexist with cardiovascular diseases, atrial fibrillation and thromboembolic disorders. Serotonin is released from platelets in response to vascular injury, promoting aggregation. Inhibition of serotonin transporter (responsible for the uptake of serotonin into platelets) can lead into a reduced ability to form clots and a subsequent increase in the risk of bleeding. Direct oral aticoagulants (DOACs), rivaroxaban, apixaban and edoxaban are primarily metabolized via CYP3A4. The co-administration of antidepressants with inhibitory effects on CYP3A4 may theoretically interact with them.

Presentation of a case of upper gastrointestinal bleeding after initiation of Apixaban in a patient taking Sertraline and literature review.

We carried out a literature review in Pubmed electing those articles focused on bleeding risk between newer direct oral antigulants and selective serotinin reuptake inhibitors.

A 66-year-old woman sought medical assistance for generalized ecchymosis and melena. She was diagnosed with atrial fibrillation treated with apixaban 7 days ago. Concomitant treatment between apixaban and sertraline was the possible cause of upper gastrointestinal bleeding and ecchymosis. We had to switch sertraline into vortioxetine (with less dregree of serotonin reuptake inhibition) and add proton-pump inhibitor (Omeprazole) in order to decrease the risk of bleeding.

SSRIs increase the risk of gastrointestinal bleeding, much more in case of concomitant use of oral anticoagulants. If SSRI use cannot be avoided, monitor closely and prescribe proton pump inhibitors.

The Internet Addiction Test (IAT) is a 20-item, self-reported questionnaire that measures the presence and severity of Internet addiction which is an increasing problem in adolescents. Although a Portuguese version IAT has been validated in adults, its psychometric properties have never been evaluated before, in adolescents.

To analyse the reliability and construct and concurrent validity of the IAT in a Portuguese adolescent sample.

772 adolescents (53.5% girls), mean aged 13.21±2.246, answered the Portuguese versions of the IAT and the Portuguese versions of validated scales to evaluate: Cyberbullying, Game Addiction, Agressivity and Anxiety, Depression Scales. To study the temporal stability, 377 (60.5% girls) respondents answered the questionnaires again after approximately four-six weeks. The total sample was aleatory splitted to realize the exploratory and the confirmatory factor analyses.

Exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses supported a second order two-factor structure - “Isolation and Social Commitment” and F2-“Negligence and Functional Commitment”. The χ2/df value was 2.260 and had a significant p value; it had the lowest RMSEA score = .074 (p< .001) and it had the highest TLI (.980) and CFI (.905). IAT mean scores were no different between genders [Girls=29.25±18.775 vs. Boys: 30.85±17.929, p=.405]. The Cronbach’s alphas were > .85. Pearson correlation between the test and the re-test was r=.660. The IAT, video game addiction (r=.434), Cyberbullying (r=.383), anxiety (r=.209) and depression (r=.263) were significantly correlated (p<.001).

The Portuguese IAT has good reliability and validity, showing to be an adequate instrument for measuring Internet Addiction symptoms in Portuguese Adolescents.

COVID-19 is a respiratory disease and its main symptoms are fever, dry cough and difficulty breathing. It spread to several countries, which led the World Health Organization to decree, on March 11, 2020, a pandemic state that deeply affected Brazil. Due to the impossibility of leaving the house, the routine of children with autism was changed. Children in Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) have a qualitative deficit in social interaction. Clinical and daily observations reinforce several scientific studies that defend the importance of maintaining a routine as stable as possible for people with ASD, without this stability they may become emotionally disorganized, feel discomfort or even irritability.

Investigate the impact caused by social distancing on the development of children and adolescents with autism.

An online questionnaire based on the DIR/Floortime basic map of emotional functional capacity development was distributed in Brazil from April to May, 2020. The results were analyzed using SPSS software.

Results obtained from 122 questionnaires showed that after 30 days of quarantine 20% of children no longer had the characteristic of being able to remain calm and organized for at least 2 minutes; 11% no longer initiates interactions with their parents; 27% demonstrated more protests and anger than before the social distancing; 18% demonstrated more emotions such as anger, fear and intimacy, 28% began to understand their limits and 12% of the children are using greater facial expression during the social distancing.

This study brings results that can help to understand the processes in a child with autism.

Psychosocial rehabilitation is a challenge in a society with demands unsuitable for those with severe mental illness (SMI). The Mental Health Department of Matosinhos Local Health Unity (MHD-MLHU) has developed a solidarity project aiming to evaluate and elaborate individualized rehabilitative responses with people with SMI, including people from the community motivated for solidarity initiatives.

To describe a psychosocial rehabilitation project focused on community integration of people with SMI, considering needs and resources of the population, and to present the individualized rehabilitation plans carried out for people with SMI.

In January 2019, we began the home evaluation of people with SMI monitored in the MHD-MLHU. To develop solidary based play-occupational groups, we interviewed people from the community and from the common mental pathology outpatient clinic willing to participate.

We present the description and evaluation of the psychosocial responses developed by the project. These responses include recreational-occupational groups, tailored to interests of each person with SMI, and using the community support group built for the purpose. These responses promote face-to-face activities, and enhance the destigmatization of SMI. The constraints resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic led to the creation of digital responses aimed at people with SMI and the community in general.

This experience has revealed the great potential of rehabilitating the community context of people with SMI, rather than just contemplating pre-existing structured responses. The pandemic created specific challenges but made the initiative even more relevant for SMI people and for promoting the mental health of the general population.

Obsessive-compulsive symptoms (OCS) are common in schizophrenia, with a prevalence ranging from 12 to 25%. They affect negatively disease outcome. Patients with comorbid OCS present more frequently resistant psychotic symptoms. Besides, the appearance and aggravation of OSC are more commonly reported with atypical antipsychotics.

To present through a clinical case and a brief literature review the treatment challenge of obsessive-compulsive symptoms in schizophrenia.

We reported the case of Mr. M.S., treated in our department since 2008 for comorbid schizophrenia and OCS, and discussed therapeutic alternatives through a literature review.

Mr. M.S. a 34-year-old male diagnosed with comorbid schizophrenia and OCS at age 20. To control psychotic symptoms, the patient received several trials of anti-psychotics with little improvement. We concluded that it was resistant schizophrenia. The introduction of clozapine reaching 300 mg daily led to significant improvement of psychotic symptoms but worsened OCS. The adjunction of fluoxetine and cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) was unsuccessful to manage obsessive symptoms. We opted for the association of aripiprazole 20 mg daily and clozapine, the doses of which were gradually tapered down to 150 mg daily. This association has guaranteed the improvement of both psychotic and obsessive symptoms.

Conclusion This clinical vignette highlights the need for clinical awareness about the possible exacerbation of OCS with atypical antipsychotics in schizophrenia.

Fibromyalgia is a chronic condition, with a high degree of psychiatric comorbidity and an insufficiently explained pathogenesis. Therefore, its therapeutic management is challenging, with both pharmacological and non-pharmacological approaches being suggested as treatment options.

To analyze the current level of evidence in favour of pharmacological treatment for fibromyalgia.

A literature review was performed through the main medical databases using the search paradigm “fibromyalgia” AND “pharmacological therapy” OR “antidepressants” OR “moodstabilizers” OR “anxiolytics”. All papers published between January 2000 and August 2020 were included in the primary analysis.

A gradually increasing interest for the treatment of fibromyalgia has been observed in the last decade, and the number of clinical trials for this indications has almost doubled in this period, when compared to the previous decade. Pregabalin, duloxetine, and milnacipran are the most supported by evidence pharmacological treatments for fibromyalgia, especially for the pain component. Amitriptyline, gabapentin, cyclobenzaprine, and tramadol have also been studied in various clinical trials, but tehre are less evidence to support their use. Cognitive dysfunctions, sleep disorders, and mood disturbances benefit from far less investigation in clinical trials, therefore no clear recommendation can be made regarding the superiority of an agent over another.

The pain component of fibromyalgia benefits from treatment with pregabalin, duloxetine, and milnacipran, while the affective component and the cognitive dimension still need more research from the psychopharmacological perspective.

Cognitive impairment is known as a core feature in bipolar patients. Persisting neurocognitive impairment has been associated with low psychosocial functioning.

The goal of this work was to identify clinical and cognitive predictors for functional impairment, symptom severity and early recurrence in bipolar disorder, as well as to compare the neurocognitive performance of bipolar patients with that of healthy probands.

43 remitted bipolar patients and 40 healthy controls were compared using a neurocognitive battery testing specifically attention, memory, verbal fluency and executive functions. In a randomized controlled trial, the 43 remitted patients were assigned to two treatment conditions as add-on to state-of-the-art pharmacotherapy: cognitive psychoeducational group therapy over 14 weeks or treatment-as-usual. At 12 months after therapy, functional impairment and severity of symptoms were assessed.

As compared to healthy probands, bipolar patients showed lower performance in executive function (perseverative errors p<0.01, categories correct p<0.001), sustained attention (total hits p<0.001), verbal learning (delayed recall p<0.001) and verbal fluency (pwords p<0.002). Cognitive psychoeducational group therapy and attention predicted occupational functioning with a hit ratio of 87.5%. Verbal memory recall was found to be a predictor for symptom severity (hit ratio 86.8%). Recurrence in the follow-up period was predicted by premorbid IQ and by years of education (hit ratio 77.8%).

Our data show that bipolar patients benefit from cognitive psychoeducational group therapy in the domain of occupational life. Reductions in sustained attention have an impact on occupational impairment.

Orexins are involved in the regulation of circadian rhythms which play an important role in mood regulation(1,2), and are hypothesised to be associated with major depressive disorder(3). However, scarce studies analyse their relationship with bipolar disorder (BD).

To evaluate the relationship of orexin-A and the clinical course of BD

95 BD patients were tested for serum orexin-A. The clinical course was analysed through number of depressive, manic/mixed episodes. HDRS and YMRS were used to assess severity of current episode. Statistics: Spearman correlations, U Mann-Whitney, linear regression analysis.

Mean age was 50.03 (SD=12.87) and 64.2% were women. 63.2% had BD-type I. Mean number of manic, depressive and mixed episodes was 2.32 (SD=3.07), 7.28 (SD=12.37), and 3.01 (SD=9.06), respectively. Mean age of onset was 26.09 (SD=10.50). Mean concentration of orexin-A was 21.78 pg/ml (SD=15.41), with no differences in sex, body mass index, age at onset or presence of insomnia(ICD-10). A correlation with age was observed; r=0.24 (p=0.019). No association was identified between orexin-A and severity of current episode. In relation to clinical course, no correlation was found with manic or mixed episodes. However, a negative correlation was identified between orexin-A levels and number of depressive episodes; r=-0.36 (p=0.001). When linear regression (orexin-A as dependent variable) was used to control for age, only this covariate (B=0.304) entered in the model (R2=0.067, F=6.045, p=0.015).

No relationship between orexin-A and number of manic/mixed episodes were detected. The association of orexin-A with number of depressive episodes dissappeared when age was controlled.

Home hospitalization is an alternative to conventional hospitalization in several areas of medicine. In Portugal, we are now starting to think about its implementation in Psychiatry, given the positive experience of its use in other countries.

Understand the advantages and disadvantages of a home hospitalization model and its logistical and clinical framework in an integrated community-focused care model.

We performed a literature review using Pubmed databases and UpToDate on home hospitalization, inpatient care and community-focused care model

We have found reports of centers with experience in home hospitalization in Psychiatry, but there is still a notable lack of studies in this area. There is a discrepancy between the care needs of patients and the existence of community services for the treatment of mental illness. Home hospitalization is considered when there is partial remission of the symptomatology that motivated the hospitalization. Albeit demanding inclusion criteria limit eligible patients, there are several advantages with this hospitalization model: 1) it favors agility in the transition from hospital to home, with direct observation of contextual factors that may influence psychiatric decompensation, 2) integrates the patient in his natural environment, promoting his autonomy,; 3) allows psychoeducation of the family; 3) guarantees the continuity of the therapeutic process initiated in the hospital, 4) optimizes resources and cost-effectiveness, 5) prevents relapses and the “revolving-door “phenomenon.

We have found that a model of home hospitalization is a valuable element that should be included in an integrated system of psychiatric care.

Video games are becoming increasingly popular among children (Lenhart et al., 2015). There is a lack of research that studies the impact of online games on children’s neurocognitive functions.

The aim is to study neurocognitive functions in children and adolescents playing and not playing online games.

The sample comprises 100 children aged 5-10 years and 100 adolescents aged 11-16 years. The following neuropsychological indexes (Akhutina, 2016) are studied: programming and control, serial organization of movements, auditory and visual memory, left and right hemispheric functions, and neurodynamic component of mental activity. Wexler’s Awareness and Comprehension Tests were used to study verbal functions. The game activity are measured by social-psychological questionnaire.

Children who play online games have a serial organization of movements (smooth switching from one component of the program to another) (F=14,46, p<0,01) and a neurodynamic component (F=13,07, p<0,01), which are worse developed than children who do not play online games. Adolescents playing online games have better analytical (left hemispheric) functions (F=13,37, p<0,01), mathematical abilities (F=3,47, p=0,063), and Awareness subtest (F=3,47, p=0,065) scores than nonplaying adolescents.

Children playing online games have lower results on neurocognitive functions directly related to motor development. Teenagers playing online games had higher scores in mathematical ability, analytical functions and awareness. The results indicate the need to develop an optimal time for digital gaming activities depending on the age of the child. The reported study was funded by RFBR, project No. 19-29-14181.

Despite existentialism positing that existential concerns are universal, research into the existential issues related to addiction remains scarce. An existential model of addiction is lacking.

This research aims to develop an existential model of addiction, conceptualising the development of addiction through to authenticity.

A scoping literature review was carried out using PUBMED, reference lists and internet websites.

Psychopathology, from an existential point of view, occurs as a result of the avoidance of the existential givens which are death, freedom, existential isolation and meaninglessness. In this model, addiction is positioned as a coping mechanism to deal with the existential or neurotic anxiety which arises from facing or avoiding the existential givens. Addiction is defined as being-with-drug; a state in which our inherent relation to others is replaced by a relation with a substance. This state is understood from the ontological, axiological, ethical and praxeological levels, shedding light on the phenomenological experience of addiction. The existential dilemmas around meaning, loneliness, death, freedom, guilt and control while living with addiction are discussed. Finally, existential crises, boundary situations and secondary suffering are seen as the main motivators to overcome addiction.

Phenomenological and existential research support the fact that existential issues are relevant to addiction. This model explains the relationships between existential concepts and addiction, while providing a framework for clinicians to explore and address these issues with patients.

Genome-wide association studies (GWAS) have successfully revealed genetic risk variants for schizophrenia (SCZ). However, the vast majority of GWAS largely comprise European samples. As a result, the derived polygenic risk scores (PRS) show decreased predictive power when applied to non-European populations.

A long-term scientific cooperation between the Charité Universitätsmedizin Berlin and the Hanoi Medical University aims to address this limitation by recruiting a large genetic cohort of comprehensively phenotyped schizophrenia patients and controls in Vietnam.

A pilot study was conducted at the Department of Psychiatry of the Medical University Hanoi in 2017. Data collection encompassed i) genome-wide SNP genotyping of 200 schizophrenia patients and 200 control subjects ii) structured interviews to assess symptom severity (PANSS), iii) clinical parameters (e.g. duration of illness, medication) and demography.

SCZ-PRS of the pilot sample (N=400) were generated using different training data sets: i) European, ii) East-Asian and iii) mixed GWAS summary statistics from the Psychiatric Genomics Consortium’s latest discovery sample. Most variance explained was observed using a mixed discovery sample (R2liability=0.053, p=3.11*10-8, Pd <0.5), followed by PRS based on the East-Asian summary statistics (R2liability=0.0503, p=6.78*10-8, Pd <1) and the European sample (R2liability=0.0363, p = 4.26*10-6, Pd <0.01).

With this pilot project we established an efficient recruitment, genotyping and data analysis pipeline. Our results corroborate previous findings indicating that transferability of PRS across populations depends on the ancestral composition of the initial discovery dataset. We therefore aim to expand data collection efforts in the future in order to improve risk prediction across diverse populations.

It is known that female reproductive events and hormonal treatments can impact the course of bipolar disorder (BD) in women, some of whom are more vulnerable to the development of mood instability under periods of hormonal fluctuation. The mechanisms involved are, however, largely unknown. The aim of this work is to review the impact of sexual hormones on the course of BD, regarding a clinical case.

To explore the role of sexual hormones in BD.

Literature review using Medline database.

This is a case of a 36-year-old woman with type 1 BD who develops a manic episode after starting oral contraception (OC). This episode remitted with suspension of the pill. Estrogen and progesterone are involved in various aspects of brain function, such as brain development, synaptic plasticity, and modulation of neurotransmitter systems. Studies indicate that there is a relationship between ovarian hormones and intracellular signaling systems involved in the pathophysiology of BD. However, research on OC use in patients with mood disorders is limited. Recent studies state that OC aren’t associated with a worse clinical course and don’t negatively influence BD, while other studies show there is a subgroup of bipolar women that improve with hormonal stability, while others get worse.

Further studies are needed to determine possible relationships between sexual hormones and BD, and it is essential to identify patients vulnerable to these risks by measuring baseline hormone levels, assessing hormone sensitivity through a history of mood changes during menstrual cycle and a history of previous mental health problems.

Individuals with autism spectrum condition (ASC) frequently report difficulties in social communications, combined with restricted inflexible behaviors. However, it is unclear whether this rigidity is pervasive across cognitive flexibility (CF) and affective flexibility (AF) in situations which resolve different social conflicts.

To study CF and AF levels and associated brain activity in individuals with ASC.

Individuals with ASC and with typical development (TD) performed a moral dilemma task during functional magnetic resonance imaging. For CF, participants made decisions on (1) whether to enforce result-oriented actions to prioritize social/public benefits; and (2) judged whether these actions are right or wrong. For AF, participants made decisions on (1) whether to permit social norm/rule violations in sympathy-evoking situations; and (2) permit these identical violations in no sympathy-evoking situations. We calculated participants’ CF/AF levels by computing the switching-rate of decisions in CF/AF sessions (switching was defined as: CF, judging the actions as wrong but choosing to enforce the action in the same vignette; AF, judging the violations as not permissible in a no sympathy-evoking circumstance, but permissible in a sympathy-evoking circumstance).

For CF, ASC participants showed a marked decrease in CF switching-rates compared to TD participants (p < 0.05), and in corresponding brain activity for executive functioning. For AF, although the AF switching rate difference was non-significant, we observed unique brain activities in each group (e.g., TD activation of the greater dorsomedial-prefrontal cortex and ASC activation of the cingulate cortex).

Our results suggest ASC inflexibility may be further characterized by both CF and AF.

Children in Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) have a qualitative deficit in social interaction. The DIR/Floortime (Stanley Greenspan and Serena Wieder) is based on the Child’s Functional Development, Individual Differences and Relationships (D for development, I for individuality or individual differences and R for relationship), aiming at building the foundations for social, emotional and intellectual skills of children.

To determine the results of 18 months DIR/Floortime™ parent training for an additional benefit in encouraging children with ASD climbing the developmental “ladder”.

The participants are 15 children with ASD aged between 2 and 6 years-old. The follow-up occurs in two private DIR Floortime Model service centers in Brazil. Protocols: Functional Emotional Assessment Scale – FEAS and Functional Emotional Developmental Questionnaire – FEDQ. The participants were followed-up one on one every four months.

At the first month of assessment the children showed lack of self regulation, social interaction and engagement with their parents in a symbolic, sensory and motor play setting. At the following evaluations, they showed increase of social interaction and engagement in the same play setting. Besides the high affect of the parents during the play time promoted a two way purpose communication and behavioral organization.

Children showed a good development of functional and emotional capacities during the study period, demonstrating the effectiveness of the DIR/Floortime model in the intervention.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Albanian authorities declared mandatory stay-at-home measures, closing businesses, schools and public places.

To investigate the impact of these immediate changes on the mental wellbeing of the population.

Respondents (N=1678) from 18 to 60 years old were selected through a convenient sampling method. Questionnaires were administered online reporting time spent daily in the COVID-19 topic and genealities; the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 and Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7.

Findings suggest a significant negative correlation between age and anxiety scoring (r(n=1678)=-.121, p≤.001) and age and depression scoring (r(n=1678)=-.232, p≤.001), shown also on the ANOVA test for age and anxiety (F=6.019, p≤.05) and age and depression (F=20.326, p≤.05). Differences on the level of education resulted in a lower score of anxiety and depression respectively (F=3.524, p≤.05), (F=7.739, p≤.05) on respondents with higher education. Those who were jobless from the pandemic scored higher on anxiety and depression respectively (F=9.760, p≤.05) (M=6.21, ds=4.686) and (F=16.051, p≤.05) (M=8.18, ds=5.791). Significant differences were found related to different amounts of time spent on the COVID-19 topic, respectively for anxiety and depression (F=25.736, p≤.001), (F=5.936, p≤.003), with people who spend less than 1 hour scoring higher on depression (M=7.57, ds= 5.849) and those who spend more than 3 hours scoring higher on anxiety (M=6.76, ds=5.60).

Higher education individuals, having a job and being in a romantic relationship relate to lower levels of depression during Covid-19 quarantine in Albania. Spending more time on the COVID-19 topic daily and being a female relate to higher level of anxiety.
