In [12], Kim and the first author proved a result comparing the virtual fundamental classes of the moduli spaces of $\varepsilon $ -stable quasimaps and $\varepsilon $ -stable $LG$ -quasimaps by studying localized Chern characters for $2$ -periodic complexes.

In this paper, we study a K-theoretic analogue of the localized Chern character map and show that for a Koszul $2$ -periodic complex it coincides with the cosection-localized Gysin map of Kiem and Li [11]. As an application, we compare the virtual structure sheaves of the moduli space of $\varepsilon $ -stable quasimaps and $\varepsilon $ -stable $LG$ -quasimaps.

Given a closed geodesic on a compact arithmetic hyperbolic surface, we show the existence of a sequence of Laplacian eigenfunctions whose integrals along the geodesic exhibit nontrivial growth. Via Waldspurger’s formula we deduce a lower bound for central values of Rankin-Selberg L-functions of Maass forms times theta series associated to real quadratic fields.

We show that for $100\%$ of the odd, square free integers $n> 0$ , the $4$ -rank of $\text {Cl}(\mathbb{Q} (i, \sqrt {n}))$ is equal to $\omega _3(n) - 1$ , where $\omega _3$ is the number of prime divisors of n that are $3$ modulo $4$ .

It is a fact simple to establish that the mixing time of the simple random walk on a d-regular graph $G_n$ with n vertices is asymptotically bounded from below by $\frac {d }{d-2 } \frac {\log n}{\log (d-1)}$ . Such a bound is obtained by comparing the walk on $G_n$ to the walk on d-regular tree $\mathcal{T}_d$ . If one can map another transitive graph $\mathcal{G} $ onto $G_n$ , then we can improve the strategy by using a comparison with the random walk on $\mathcal{G} $ (instead of that of $\mathcal{T} _d$ ), and we obtain a lower bound of the form $\frac {1}{\mathfrak{h} }\log n$ , where $\mathfrak{h} $ is the entropy rate associated with $\mathcal{G} $ . We call this the entropic lower bound.

It was recently proved that in the case $\mathcal{G} =\mathcal{T} _d$ , this entropic lower bound (in that case $\frac {d }{d-2 } \frac {\log n}{\log (d-1)}$ ) is sharp when graphs have minimal spectral radius and thus that in that case the random walk exhibits cutoff at the entropic time. In this article, we provide a generalisation of the result by providing a sufficient condition on the spectra of the random walks on $G_n$ under which the random walk exhibits cutoff at the entropic time. It applies notably to anisotropic random walks on random d-regular graphs and to random walks on random n-lifts of a base graph (including nonreversible walks).

We study the metric projection onto the closed convex cone in a real Hilbert space $\mathscr {H}$ generated by a sequence $\mathcal {V} = \{v_n\}_{n=0}^\infty $ . The first main result of this article provides a sufficient condition under which the closed convex cone generated by $\mathcal {V}$ coincides with the following set:

We prove uniform Hölder regularity estimates for a transport-diffusion equation with a fractional diffusion operator and a general advection field in of bounded mean oscillation, as long as the order of the diffusion dominates the transport term at small scales; our only requirement is the smallness of the negative part of the divergence in some critical Lebesgue space. In comparison to a celebrated result by Silvestre, our advection field does not need to be bounded. A similar result can be obtained in the supercritical case if the advection field is Hölder continuous. Our proof is inspired by Kiselev and Nazarov and is based on the dual evolution technique. The idea is to propagate an atom property (i.e., localisation and integrability in Lebesgue spaces) under the dual conservation law, when it is coupled with the fractional diffusion operator.

We say that a group G of local (maybe formal) biholomorphisms satisfies the uniform intersection property if the intersection multiplicity $(\phi (V), W)$ takes only finitely many values as a function of G for any choice of analytic sets V and W of complementary dimension. In dimension $2$ we show that G satisfies the uniform intersection property if and only if it is finitely determined – that is, if there exists a natural number k such that different elements of G have different Taylor expansions of degree k at the origin. We also prove that G is finitely determined if and only if the action of G on the space of germs of analytic curves has discrete orbits.

A key ingredient in the Taylor–Wiles proof of Fermat’s last theorem is the classical Ihara lemma, which is used to raise the modularity property between some congruent Galois representations. In their work on Sato and Tate, Clozel, Harris and Taylor proposed a generalisation of the Ihara lemma in higher dimension for some similitude groups. The main aim of this paper is to prove some new instances of this generalised Ihara lemma by considering some particular non-pseudo-Eisenstein maximal ideals of unramified Hecke algebras. As a consequence, we prove a level-raising statement.

We investigate qualitative properties of the underlying scheme of Rapoport–Zink formal moduli spaces of p-divisible groups (resp., shtukas). We single out those cases where the dimension of this underlying scheme is zero (resp., those where the dimension is the maximal possible). The model case for the first alternative is the Lubin–Tate moduli space, and the model case for the second alternative is the Drinfeld moduli space. We exhibit a complete list in both cases.

In this paper, we construct a natural probability measure on the space of real branched coverings from a real projective algebraic curve $(X,c_X)$ to the projective line $(\mathbb{C} \mathbb {P}^1,\textit{conj} )$ . We prove that the space of degree d real branched coverings having “many” real branched points (for example, more than $\sqrt {d}^{1+\alpha }$ , for any $\alpha>0$ ) has exponentially small measure. In particular, maximal real branched coverings – that is, real branched coverings such that all the branched points are real – are exponentially rare.

In this paper, we develop the theory of singular Hermitian metrics on vector bundles. As an application, we give a structure theorem of a projective manifold X with pseudo-effective tangent bundle; X admits a smooth fibration $X \to Y$ to a flat projective manifold Y such that its general fibre is rationally connected. Moreover, by applying this structure theorem, we classify all the minimal surfaces with pseudo-effective tangent bundle and study general nonminimal surfaces, which provide examples of (possibly singular) positively curved tangent bundles.

Building on work of Segre and Kollár on cubic hypersurfaces, we construct over imperfect fields of characteristic $p\geq 3$ particular hypersurfaces of degree p, which show that geometrically rational schemes that are regular and whose rational points are Zariski dense are not necessarily unirational. A likewise behavior holds for certain cubic surfaces in characteristic $p=2$ .
