Let $\pi \colon \mathcal {X}\to B$ be a family whose general fibre $X_b$ is a $(d_1,\,\ldots,\,d_a)$-polarization on a general abelian variety, where $1\leq d_i\leq 2$, $i=1,\,\ldots,\,a$ and $a\geq 4$. We show that the fibres are in the same birational class if all the $(m,\,0)$-forms on $X_b$ are liftable to $(m,\,0)$-forms on $\mathcal {X}$, where $m=1$ and $m=a-1$. Actually, we show a general criteria to establish whether the fibres of certain families belong to the same birational class.

We introduce a notion of barycenter of a probability measure related to the symmetric mean of a collection of non-negative real numbers. Our definition is inspired by the work of Halász and Székely, who in 1976 proved a law of large numbers for symmetric means. We study the analytic properties of this Halász–Székely barycenter. We establish fundamental inequalities that relate the symmetric mean of a list of non-negative real numbers with the barycenter of the measure uniformly supported on these points. As consequence, we go on to establish an ergodic theorem stating that the symmetric means of a sequence of dynamical observations converge to the Halász–Székely barycenter of the corresponding distribution.

In this paper, we prove the well-known Erdős–Lax inequality [4] in a sharpened form. As a consequence, another widely used inequality due to Ankeny and Rivlin [1] gets sharpened. These results may be useful in various applications that required the Erdős–Lax and the Ankeny–Rivlin inequalities.

Let $m\leqslant n\in \mathbb {N}$, and $G\leqslant \operatorname {Sym}(m)$ and $H\leqslant \operatorname {Sym}(n)$. In this article, we find conditions enabling embeddings between the symmetric R. Thompson groups ${V_m(G)}$ and ${V_n(H)}$. When $n\equiv 1 \mod (m-1)$, and under some other technical conditions, we find an embedding of ${V_n(H)}$ into ${V_m(G)}$ via topological conjugation. With the same modular condition, we also generalize a purely algebraic construction of Birget from 2019 to find a group $H\leqslant \operatorname {Sym}(n)$ and an embedding of ${V_m(G)}$ into ${V_n(H)}$.

Li et al. [A spectral radius type formula for approximation numbers of composition operators, J. Funct. Anal. 267(12) (2014), 4753-4774] proved a spectral radius type formula for the approximation numbers of composition operators on analytic Hilbert spaces with radial weights and on $H^{p}$ spaces, $p\geq 1$, involving Green capacity. We prove that their formula holds for a wide class of Banach spaces of analytic functions and weights.

Using the $H^{\infty }$-functional calculus for quaternionic operators, we show how to generate the fractional powers of some densely defined differential quaternionic operators of order $m\geq 1$, acting on the right linear quaternionic Hilbert space $L^{2}(\Omega,\mathbb {C}\otimes \mathbb {H})$. Let $G= SL_{n+1}$ be defined over an algebraically closed field of characteristic $p > 2$. For each $n \geq 1$, there exists a singular block in the category of $G_1$-modules, which contains precisely $n+1$ irreducible modules. We are interested in the ‘lift’ of this block to the category of $G_1T$-modules. Imposing only mild assumptions on $p$, we will perform a number of calculations in this setting, including a complete determination of the Loewy series for the baby Verma modules and all possible extensions between the irreducible modules. In the case where $p$ is extremely large, we will also explicitly compute the Loewy series for the indecomposable projective modules.

In this paper, we mainly introduce some new notions of generalized Bloch type periodic functions namely pseudo Bloch type periodic functions and weighted pseudo Bloch type periodic functions. A Bloch type periodic function may not be Bloch type periodic under certain small perturbations while it can be quasi Bloch type periodic in sense of generalized Bloch type periodic functions. We firstly show the completeness of spaces of generalized Bloch type periodic functions and establish some further properties such as composition and convolution theorems of such functions. We then apply these results to investigate existence results for generalized Bloch type periodic mild solutions to some semi-linear differential equations in Banach spaces. The obtained results show that for each generalized Bloch type periodic input forcing disturbance, the output mild solutions to reference evolution equations remain generalized Bloch type periodic.

A linear growth-diffusion equation is studied in a time-dependent interval whose location and length both vary. We prove conditions on the boundary motion for which the solution can be found in exact form and derive the explicit expression in each case. Next, we prove the precise behaviour near the boundary in a ‘critical’ case: when the endpoints of the interval move in such a way that near the boundary there is neither exponential growth nor decay, but the solution behaves like a power law with respect to time. The proof uses a subsolution based on the Airy function with argument depending on both space and time. Interesting links are observed between this result and Bramson's logarithmic term in the nonlinear FKPP equation on the real line. Each of the main theorems is extended to higher dimensions, with a corresponding result on a ball with a time-dependent radius.

For a state $\omega$ on a C$^{*}$-algebra $A$, we characterize all states $\rho$ in the weak* closure of the set of all states of the form $\omega \circ \varphi$, where $\varphi$ is a map on $A$ of the form $\varphi (x)=\sum \nolimits _{i=1}^{n}a_i^{*}xa_i,$ $\sum \nolimits _{i=1}^{n}a_i^{*}a_i=1$ ($a_i\in A$, $n\in \mathbb {N}$). These are precisely the states $\rho$ that satisfy $\|\rho |J\|\leq \|\omega |J\|$ for each ideal $J$ of $A$. The corresponding question for normal states on a von Neumann algebra $\mathcal {R}$ (with the weak* closure replaced by the norm closure) is also considered. All normal states of the form $\omega \circ \psi$, where $\psi$ is a quantum channel on $\mathcal {R}$ (that is, a map of the form $\psi (x)=\sum \nolimits _ja_j^{*}xa_j$, where $a_j\in \mathcal {R}$ are such that the sum $\sum \nolimits _ja_j^{*}a_j$ converge to $1$ in the weak operator topology) are characterized. A variant of this topic for hermitian functionals instead of states is investigated. Maximally mixed states are shown to vanish on the strong radical of a C$^{*}$-algebra and for properly infinite von Neumann algebras the converse also holds.

In this paper, we consider the problem $-\Delta u =-u^{-\beta }\chi _{\{u>0\}} + f(u)$ in $\Omega$ with $u=0$ on $\partial \Omega$, where $0<\beta <1$ and $\Omega$ is a smooth bounded domain in $\mathbb {R}^{N}$, $N\geq 2$. We are able to solve this problem provided $f$ has subcritical growth and satisfy certain hypothesis. We also consider this problem with $f(s)=\lambda s+s^{\frac {N+2}{N-2}}$ and $N\geq 3$. In this case, we are able to obtain a solution for large values of $\lambda$. We replace the singular function $u^{-\beta }$ by a function $g_\epsilon (u)$ which pointwisely converges to $u^{-\beta }$ as $\epsilon \rightarrow 0$. The corresponding energy functional to the perturbed equation $-\Delta u + g_\epsilon (u) = f(u)$ has a critical point $u_\epsilon$ in $H_0^{1}(\Omega )$, which converges to a non-trivial non-negative solution of the original problem as $\epsilon \rightarrow 0$.

A bosonic Laplacian, which is a generalization of Laplacian, is constructed as a second-order conformally invariant differential operator acting on functions taking values in irreducible representations of the special orthogonal group, hence of the spin group. In this paper, we firstly introduce some properties for homogeneous polynomial null solutions to bosonic Laplacians, which give us some important results, such as an orthogonal decomposition of the space of polynomials in terms of homogeneous polynomial null solutions to bosonic Laplacians, etc. This work helps us to introduce Bergman spaces related to bosonic Laplacians, named as bosonic Bergman spaces, in higher spin spaces. Reproducing kernels for bosonic Bergman spaces in the unit ball and a description of bosonic Bergman projection are given as well. At the end, we investigate bosonic Hardy spaces, which are considered as generalizations of harmonic Hardy spaces. Analogs of some well-known results for harmonic Hardy spaces are provided here. For instance, connections to certain complex Borel measure spaces, growth estimates for functions in the bosonic Hardy spaces, etc.

In this paper, we give a generalization and improvement of the Pavlović result on the characterization of continuously differentiable functions in the Bloch space on the unit ball in $\mathbb {R}^{m}$. Then, we derive a Holland–Walsh type theorem for analytic normal mappings on the unit disk.

In 1991, Chicone and Jacobs showed the equivalence between the computation of the first-order Taylor developments of the Lyapunov constants and the developments of the first Melnikov function near a non-degenerate monodromic equilibrium point, in the study of limit cycles of small-amplitude bifurcating from a quadratic centre. We show that their proof is also valid for polynomial vector fields of any degree. This equivalence is used to provide a new lower bound for the local cyclicity of degree six polynomial vector fields, so $\mathcal {M}(6) \geq 44$. Moreover, we extend this equivalence to the piecewise polynomial class. Finally, we prove that $\mathcal {M}^{c}_{p}(4) \geq 43$ and $\mathcal {M}^{c}_{p}(5) \geq 65.$

We show that some results of L. Makar-Limanov, P. Malcolmson and Z. Reichstein on the existence of free-associative algebras are valid in the more general context of varieties of algebras.

Let $\mathcal {N}$ be a non-Archimedean-ordered field extension of the real numbers that is real closed and Cauchy complete in the topology induced by the order, and whose Hahn group is Archimedean. In this paper, we first review the properties of weakly locally uniformly differentiable (WLUD) functions, $k$ times weakly locally uniformly differentiable (WLUD$^{k}$) functions and WLUD$^{\infty }$ functions at a point or on an open subset of $\mathcal {N}$. Then, we show under what conditions a WLUD$^{\infty }$ function at a point $x_0\in \mathcal {N}$ is analytic in an interval around $x_0$, that is, it has a convergent Taylor series at any point in that interval. We generalize the concepts of WLUD$^{k}$ and WLUD$^{\infty }$ to functions from $\mathcal {N}^{n}$ to $\mathcal {N}$, for any $n\in \mathbb {N}$. Then, we formulate conditions under which a WLUD$^{\infty }$ function at a point $\boldsymbol {x_0} \in \mathcal {N}^{n}$ is analytic at that point.

We study a variant of the mean curvature flow for closed, convex hypersurfaces where the normal velocity is a non-homogeneous function of the principal curvatures. We show that if the initial hypersurface satisfies a certain pinching condition, then this is preserved and the flow converges to a sphere under rescaling.

In this paper, we study the supercharacter theories of elementary abelian $p$-groups of order $p^{2}$. We show that the supercharacter theories that arise from the direct product construction and the $\ast$-product construction can be obtained from automorphisms. We also prove that any supercharacter theory of an elementary abelian $p$-group of order $p^{2}$ that has a non-identity superclass of size $1$ or a non-principal linear supercharacter must come from either a $\ast$-product or a direct product. Although we are unable to prove results for general primes, we do compute all of the supercharacter theories when $p = 2,\, 3,\, 5$, and based on these computations along with particular computations for larger primes, we make several conjectures for a general prime $p$.
