We consider the fractional elliptic problem: where B1 is the unit ball in ℝN, N ⩾ 3, s ∈ (0, 1) and p > (N + 2s)/(N − 2s). We prove that this problem has infinitely many solutions with slow decay O(|x|−2s/(p−1)) at infinity. In addition, for each s ∈ (0, 1) there exists Ps > (N + 2s)/(N − 2s), for any (N + 2s)/(N − 2s) < p < Ps, the above problem has a solution with fast decay O(|x|2s−N). This result is the extension of the work by Dávila, del Pino, Musso and Wei (2008, Calc. Var. Partial Differ. Equ. 32, no. 4, 453–480) to the fractional case.

We prove a new upper bound on the second moment of Maass form symmetric square L-functions defined over Gaussian integers. Combining this estimate with the recent result of Balog–Biro–Cherubini–Laaksonen, we improve the error term in the prime geodesic theorem for the Picard manifold.

This study considers a model for oncolytic virotherapy, as given by the reaction–diffusion–taxis system

Previous analysis has asserted that for all reasonably regular initial data, an associated no-flux type initial-boundary value problem admits a global classical solution, and that this solution is bounded if β < 1, whereas whenever β > 1 and $({1}/{|\Omega |})\int _\Omega u(\cdot ,0) > 1/(\beta -1)$, infinite-time blow-up occurs at least in the particular case when ρ = 0.

In order to provide an appropriate complement to this, the current study reveals that for any ρ ⩾ 0 and arbitrary β > 0, at each prescribed level γ ∈ (0, 1/(β − 1)+) one can identify an L∞-neighbourhood of the homogeneous distribution (u, v, w, z) ≡ (γ, 0, 0, 0) within which all initial data lead to globally bounded solutions that stabilize towards the constant equilibrium (u∞, 0, 0, 0) with some u∞ > 0.

We first establish a family of sharp Caffarelli–Kohn–Nirenberg type inequalities (shortly, sharp CKN inequalities) on the Euclidean spaces and then extend them to the setting of Cartan–Hadamard manifolds with the same best constant. The quantitative version of these inequalities also is proved by adding a non-negative remainder term in terms of the sectional curvature of manifolds. We next prove several rigidity results for complete Riemannian manifolds supporting the Caffarelli–Kohn–Nirenberg type inequalities with the same sharp constant as in the Euclidean space of the same dimension. Our results illustrate the influence of curvature to the sharp CKN inequalities on the Riemannian manifolds. They extend recent results of Kristály (J. Math. Pures Appl. 119 (2018), 326–346) to a larger class of the sharp CKN inequalities.

We link distinct concepts of geometric group theory and homotopy theory through underlying combinatorics. For a flag simplicial complex $K$, we specify a necessary and sufficient combinatorial condition for the commutator subgroup $RC_K'$ of a right-angled Coxeter group, viewed as the fundamental group of the real moment-angle complex $\mathcal {R}_K$, to be a one-relator group; and for the Pontryagin algebra $H_{*}(\Omega \mathcal {Z}_K)$ of the moment-angle complex to be a one-relator algebra. We also give a homological characterization of these properties. For $RC_K'$, it is given by a condition on the homology group $H_2(\mathcal {R}_K)$, whereas for $H_{*}(\Omega \mathcal {Z}_K)$ it is stated in terms of the bigrading of the homology groups of $\mathcal {Z}_K$.

In this paper we study a normalized anisotropic Gauss curvature flow of strictly convex, closed hypersurfaces in the Euclidean space. We prove that the flow exists for all time and converges smoothly to the unique, strictly convex solution of a Monge-Ampère type equation and we obtain a new existence result of solutions to the Dual Orlicz-Minkowski problem for smooth measures, especially for even smooth measures.

We work in the smooth category. Let $N$ be a closed connected orientable 4-manifold with torsion free $H_1$, where $H_q := H_q(N; {\mathbb Z} )$. Our main result is a readily calculable classification of embeddings$N \to {\mathbb R}^7$up to isotopy, with an indeterminacy. Such a classification was only known before for $H_1=0$ by our earlier work from 2008. Our classification is complete when $H_2=0$ or when the signature of $N$ is divisible neither by 64 nor by 9.

The group of knots $S^4\to {\mathbb R}^7$ acts on the set of embeddings $N\to {\mathbb R}^7$ up to isotopy by embedded connected sum. In Part I we classified the quotient of this action. The main novelty of this paper is the description of this action for $H_1 \ne 0$, with an indeterminacy.

Besides the invariants of Part I, detecting the action of knots involves a refinement of the Kreck invariant from our work of 2008.

For $N=S^1\times S^3$ we give a geometrically defined 1–1 correspondence between the set of isotopy classes of embeddings and a certain explicitly defined quotient of the set ${\mathbb Z} \oplus {\mathbb Z} \oplus {\mathbb Z} _{12}$.

The homotopy theory of gauge groups has received considerable attention in recent decades. In this work, we study the homotopy theory of gauge groups over some high-dimensional manifolds. To be more specific, we study gauge groups of bundles over (n − 1)-connected closed 2n-manifolds, the classification of which was determined by Wall and Freedman in the combinatorial category. We also investigate the gauge groups of the total manifolds of sphere bundles based on the classical work of James and Whitehead. Furthermore, other types of 2n-manifolds are also considered. In all the cases, we show various homotopy decompositions of gauge groups. The methods are combinations of manifold topology and various techniques in homotopy theory.

This paper focuses on recollements and silting theory in triangulated categories. It consists of two main parts. In the first part a criterion for a recollement of triangulated subcategories to lift to a torsion torsion-free triple (TTF triple) of ambient triangulated categories with coproducts is proved. As a consequence, lifting of TTF triples is possible for recollements of stable categories of repetitive algebras or self-injective finite length algebras and recollements of bounded derived categories of separated Noetherian schemes. When, in addition, the outer subcategories in the recollement are derived categories of small linear categories the conditions from the criterion are sufficient to lift the recollement to a recollement of ambient triangulated categories up to equivalence. In the second part we use these results to study the problem of constructing silting sets in the central category of a recollement generating the t-structure glued from the silting t-structures in the outer categories. In the case of a recollement of bounded derived categories of Artin algebras we provide an explicit construction for gluing classical silting objects.

In this paper, we study the principal spectral theory of age-structured models with random diffusion. First, we provide an equivalent characteristic for the principal eigenvalue, the strong maximum principle and a positive strict super-solution. Then, we use the result to investigate the effects of diffusion rate on the principal eigenvalue. Finally, we study how the principal eigenvalue affects the global dynamics of the KPP model and verify that the principal eigenvalue being zero is a critical value.
