The structural parameters of a second low-temperature form of KZnPO4 have been refined using Rietveld analysis of X-ray powder diffraction (XRPD) data. This form of KZnPO4 is isostructural with NH4ZnPO4I and has previously been denoted as KZnPO4II. This article uses the notation δ-KZnPO4, to be consistent with the α, β, and γ notation commonly used for other KZnPO4 phases.

In the present work, LaNi0.5Ti0.45Co0.05O3, LaNi0.45Co0.05Ti0.5O3, and LaNi0.5Ti0.5O3 perovskites were synthesized by the modified Pechini method. These materials were characterized using X-ray fluorescence, scanning electron microscopy, and powder X-ray diffraction coupled to the Rietveld method. The crystal structure of these materials is orthorhombic, with space group Pbnm (No 62). The unit-cell parameters are a = 5.535(5) Å, b = 5.527(3) Å, c = 7.819(7) Å, V = 239.2(3) Å3, for the LaNi0.5Ti0.45Co0.05O3, a = 5.538(6) Å, b = 5.528(4) Å, c = 7.825(10) Å, V = 239.5(4) Å3, for the LaNi0.45Co0.05Ti0.5O3, and a = 5.540(2) Å, b = 5.5334(15) Å, c = 7.834(3) Å, V = 240.2(1) Å3, for the LaNi0.5Ti0.5O3.

The crystal structure of eltrombopag olamine Form I has been solved and refined using synchrotron X-ray powder diffraction data and optimized using density functional techniques. Eltrombopag olamine crystallizes in the space group P21/n (#14) with a = 17.65884(13), b = 7.55980(2), c = 22.02908(16) Å, β = 105.8749(4)°, V = 2828.665(11) Å3, and Z = 4. The crystal structure is dominated by columns of hydrogen-bonded cations and anions along the short b-axis. van der Waals interactions bind the columns together. Two H atoms of each ammonium group in the ethanolammonium cations participate in strong hydrogen bonds, and the third H forms weaker bifurcated H-bonds. The crystal structure of a novel high-energy density material 3-[(3,4-dinitro-1H-pyrazol-1-yl)-NNO-azoxy]-4-nitro-1,2,5-oxadiazole C5HN9O8 was determined and refined using laboratory powder diffraction data. The diffraction data and database analysis were insufficient to distinguish two candidate structures from the solution step. Density functional theory with periodic boundary conditions optimizations were used to choose the correct one. 3-[(3,4-Dinitro1H-pyrazol-1-yl)-NNO-azoxy]-4-nitro-1,2,5-oxadiazole crystallizes in space group Pbca with a = 8.3104(2) Å, b = 14.2198(5) Å, c = 19.4264(7) Å, V = 2295.66(14) Å3. The molecular conformation contains a weak intramolecular hydrogen bond C–H⋯O–N, and the structure is dominated by weak O⋯π and O⋯O contacts.

The crystal structure of pimecrolimus Form B has been solved and refined using synchrotron X-ray powder diffraction data and optimized using density functional techniques. Pimecrolimus crystallizes in the space group P21 (#4) with a = 15.28864(7), b = 13.31111(4), c = 10.95529(5) Å, β = 96.1542(3)°, V = 2216.649(9) Å3, and Z = 2. Although there are an intramolecular six-ring hydrogen bond and some larger chain and ring patterns, the crystal structure is dominated by van der Waals interactions. There is a significant difference between the conformation of the Rietveld-refined and the DFT-optimized structures in one portion of the macrocyclic ring. Although weak, intermolecular interactions are apparently important in determining the solid-state conformation. The powder pattern is included in the Powder Diffraction File™ (PDF®) as entry 00-066-1619. This study provides the atomic coordinates to be added to the PDF entry.

The crystal structure of brigatinib Form A has been solved and refined using synchrotron X-ray powder diffraction data and optimized using density functional theory techniques. Brigatinib Form A crystallizes in space group P-1 (#2) with a = 9.59616(20), b = 10.9351(3), c = 14.9913(6) Å, α = 76.1210(13), β = 79.9082(11), γ = 74.0802(6)°, V = 1458.497(15) Å3, and Z = 2. Structure solution was complicated by the lowest cost factor solution having an unreasonable conformation of the dimethylphosphoryl group. The second-best structure yielded a better refinement. The crystal structure is characterized by alternating layers of aliphatic and aromatic portions of the molecules along the b-axis. Strong N–H⋯N hydrogen bonds link the molecules into pairs, with a graph set R2,2(8). There is a strong intramolecular N–H⋯O hydrogen bond to the phosphoryl group, which determines the orientation of this group. The crystal structure of levocetirizine dihydrochloride Form I has been solved and refined using synchrotron X-ray powder diffraction data and optimized using density functional techniques. Levocetirizine dihydrochloride Form I apparently crystallizes in space group P21/n (#14) with a = 24.1318(21), b = 7.07606(9), c = 13.5205(7) Å, β = 97.9803(4)°, V = 2286.38(12) Å3, and Z = 4. The crystal structure consists of interleaved double columns of cations and anions along the short b-axis. The hydrogen bonds link the cations and anions along this axis. Each protonated nitrogen atom forms a strong N–H⋯Cl hydrogen bond to one of the chloride anions. The carboxylic acid group also forms an H-bond to Cl56, resulting in a ring with a graph set R1,2(10). The centrosymmetric P21/n model for the crystal structure of levocetirizine dihydrochloride is better than the non-centrosymmetric P21 model, even though levocetirizine is a chiral molecule; the sample exhibits weak second-harmonic generation, and three weak peaks which violate the glide plane are observed. The centrosymmetric model is better by statistical, graphical, and energetic measures, as well as by chemical reasonableness. To accommodate the chiral molecule in a centrosymmetric space group, the chiral central carbon atom was disordered over two half-occupied positions, so that each cation site could be occupied by a cation of the correct chirality. A powder pattern from a Le Bail extraction of this synchrotron data set is included in the Powder Diffraction File™ as entry 00-066-1627.

The crystal structure of edoxaban tosylate monohydrate has been solved and refined using synchrotron X-ray powder diffraction data, and optimized using density functional techniques. Edoxaban tosylate monohydrate crystallizes in space group P21 (#4) with a = 7.55097(2), b = 7.09010(2), c = 32.80420(21) Å, β = 96.6720(3)°, V = 1744.348(6) Å3, and Z = 2. The crystal structure consists of alternating layers of edoxaban cations and tosylate anions along the c-axis. The water molecules lie near the sulfonate end of the tosylate anions. The solid-state conformation of the edoxaban cation is determined by intermolecular interactions. The protonated nitrogen atom forms a strong N–H⋯O hydrogen bond to one of the tosylate oxygens. Only one of the water molecule hydrogens acts as a donor in an O–H⋯O hydrogen bond. The tosylate oxygens act as acceptors in a number of C–H⋯O hydrogen bonds. The powder pattern has been submitted to ICDD® for inclusion in the Powder Diffraction File™.

Synchrotron powder diffraction data is presented for the monoclinic polymorph of dimethylarsinic acid, (CH3)2AsO(OH) (DMAV). Rietveld refinement with GSASII yielded lattice parameters of a = 15.9264(15) Å, b = 6.53999(8) Å, c = 11.3401(9) Å, and β = 125.8546(17)° (Z = 8, space group C2/c). The Rietveld-refined structure was compared with both a density functional theory (DFT)-optimized structure and the published, low-temperature single-crystal structure, and all three structures exhibited excellent agreement. The triclinic polymorph of DMAV was also DFT optimized with CRYSTAL17 to determine the positions of the hydrogen atoms. Monoclinic DMAV forms zigzag chains parallel to the b-axis with adjacent DMAV molecules connected by an O–H⋯O bond, whereas triclinic DMAV forms dimers connected by two O–H⋯O bonds.

The crystal structure of (E)-doxepin hydrochloride has been solved and refined using synchrotron X-ray powder diffraction data, and optimized using density functional techniques. (E)-doxepin hydrochloride crystallizes in space group P21/a (#14) with a = 13.78488(7), b = 8.96141(7), c = 14.30886(9) Å, β = 96.5409(5)°, V = 1756.097(12) Å3, and Z = 4. There is a strong discrete hydrogen bond between the protonated nitrogen atom and the chloride anion. There are six C–H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds between the methyl groups and the chloride, as well as additional hydrogen bonds from methylene groups and the vinyl proton. The hydrogen bonds are important in determining the solid-state conformation of the cation. The compound is essentially isostructural to amitriptyline hydrochloride. X-ray powder diffraction data, unit-cell parameters, and space group for tetrazene nitrate monohydrate, C2H9N11O4, are reported [a = 5.205(1) Å, b = 13.932(3) Å, c = 14.196(4) Å, β = 97.826(3)°, unit-cell volume V = 1019.8(4) Å3, Z = 4, and space group P21/c]. All measured lines were indexed and are consistent with the P21/c space group. No detectable impurities were observed.

The crystal structure of pomalidomide Form I has been solved and refined using synchrotron X-ray powder diffraction data and optimized using density functional theory techniques. Pomalidomide Form I crystallizes in the space group P-1 (#2) with a = 7.04742(9), b = 7.89103(27), c = 11.3106(6) Å, α = 73.2499(13), β = 80.9198(9), γ = 88.5969(6)°, V = 594.618(8) Å3, and Z = 2. The crystal structure is characterized by the parallel stacking of planes parallel to the bc-plane. Hydrogen bonds link the molecules into double layers also parallel to the bc-plane. Each of the amine hydrogen atoms acts as a donor to a carbonyl group in an N–H⋯O hydrogen bond, but only two of the four carbonyl groups act as acceptors in such hydrogen bonds. Other carbonyl groups participate in C–H⋯O hydrogen bonds. The powder pattern has been submitted to ICDD® for inclusion in the Powder Diffraction File™ (PDF®).

The crystal structure of strontium hydrogen citrate monohydrate has been solved using laboratory X-ray powder diffraction data, refined using both laboratory and synchrotron data, and optimized using density functional techniques. Strontium hydrogen citrate monohydrate crystallizes in space group C2/c (#15) with a = 25.15601(17), b = 10.90724(6), c = 6.37341(4) Å, β = 91.9846(6)°, V = 1747.704(12) Å3, and Z = 8. The Sr coordination and the hydrogen bonding result in a layered structure. The SrO8 coordination polyhedra share edges to form corrugated layers parallel to the bc-plane. Hydrogen bonds between the carboxylic acid groups and water molecules link the layers. Intermolecular hydroxyl–carboxyl hydrogen bonds also link the layers in a ring pattern with a graph set symbol R2,2(12). After storage for 2 years, partial re-crystallization occurred, to an as-yet unknown compound with a triclinic unit cell.

Leucites are tetrahedrally coordinated silicate framework structures with some of the silicon framework cations partially replaced by divalent or trivalent cations. These structures have general formulae A2BSi5O12 and ACSi2O6; where A is a monovalent alkali metal cation, B is a divalent cation, and C is a trivalent cation. In this paper, we report the Rietveld refinements of three more synthetic leucite analogues with stoichiometries of Cs2NiSi5O12, RbGaSi2O6, and CsGaSi2O6. Cs2NiSi5O12 is Ia$\bar{3}$d cubic and is isostructural with Cs2CuSi5O12. RbGaSi2O6 is I41/a tetragonal and is isostructural with KGaSi2O6. CsGaSi2O6 is $I\bar{4}3d$ cubic and is isostructural with RbBSi2O6.

The crystal structure of loteprednol etabonate Form II has been solved and refined using synchrotron X-ray powder diffraction data, and optimized using density functional techniques. Loteprednol etabonate Form II crystallizes in the space group P21 (#4) with a = 11.96312(6), b = 14.91862(5), c = 6.75715(3) Å, β = 94.1584(3)°, V = 1202.796(6) Å3, and Z = 2. The crystal structure is characterized by herringbone layers in the ab-plane. The anisotropic displacement ellipsoid of the Cl atom is not oriented in a way which corresponds to a chemically sensible motion of this atom. The sample suffered damage in the X-ray beam, probably involving photolysis of the C–Cl bond. The most prominent hydrogen bond is the O–H⋯O hydrogen bond between the hydroxyl group and the carbonyl group of the steroid A ring. This hydrogen bond links the molecules into C1,1(9) chains along the b-axis. The crystal structure of palbociclib isethionate has been solved and refined using synchrotron X-ray powder diffraction data, and optimized using density functional theory techniques. Palbociclib isethionate crystallizes in space group P-1 (#2) with a = 8.71334(4), b = 9.32119(6), c = 17.73725(18) Å, α = 80.0260(5), β = 82.3579(3), γ = 76.1561(1)°, V = 1371.282(4) Å3, and Z = 2. The crystal structure is dominated by cation⋯anion and cation⋯cation hydrogen bonds, which result in layers roughly parallel to the (104) plane. Both hydrogen atoms on the protonated nitrogen atom of the pyrimidine ring participate in strong hydrogen bonds to the anions. One proton binds to the sulfonate group, while the other bonds to the hydroxyl group of the isethionate anion. The hydroxyl group of the anion acts as a donor to a ketone oxygen atom in the cation. There are also strong N–H⋯N hydrogen bonds, which occur in pairs linking the cations into dimers with rings having a graph set R2,2(8). The crystal structure of osimertinib mesylate Form B has been solved and refined using synchrotron X-ray powder diffraction data and optimized using density functional techniques. Osimertinib mesylate Form B crystallizes in space group P-1 (#2) with a = 11.42912(17), b = 11.72274(24), c = 13.32213(22) Å, α = 69.0265(5), β = 74.5914(4), γ = 66.4007(4)°, V = 1511.557(12) Å3, and Z = 2. The crystal structure is characterized by alternating layers of cation–anion and parallel stacking interactions parallel to the ab-planes. The cation is protonated at the nitrogen atom of the dimethylamino group, which forms a strong hydrogen bond between the cation and the anion. That hydrogen atom also participates in a weaker intramolecular hydrogen bond to an amino nitrogen. There are two additional N–H⋅⋅⋅O hydrogen bonds between the cation and the anion. Several C–H⋅⋅⋅O hydrogen bonds also link the cations and anions. The powder pattern has been submitted to ICDD® for inclusion in the Powder Diffraction File™.

The crystal structure of varenicline hydrogen tartrate Form B (Chantix®) has been refined using synchrotron X-ray powder diffraction data and optimized using density functional techniques. Varenicline hydrogen tartrate Form B crystallizes in space group P212121 (#19) with a = 7.07616(2), b = 7.78357(2), c = 29.86149(7) Å, V = 1644.706(6) Å3, and Z = 4. The hydrogen bonds were identified and quantified. Hydrogen bonds link the cations and anions in zig-zag chains along the b-axis. A new organic–inorganic hybrid lithium m-phenylenediamine sulfate (LPS), Li2(C6H10N2)(SO4)2, was synthesized under aqueous solution conditions. The X-ray powder diffraction study determined that the title compound crystallized in a monoclinic system at 300 K, with unit-cell parameters a = 7.8689(6) Å, b = 6.6353(5) Å, c = 11.8322(10) Å, β = 109.385(3) °, V = 582.77(8) Å3. Indexing of the diffraction patterns collected from 100 to 600 K reveals that LPS has no structural phase transition within the measured temperature range, and the volume expansion coefficient is approximately 2.79 × 10−5 K−1. The crystal structure was solved based on the single-crystal diffraction data with space group P21/m. Lithium and SO42− are found to form quasi-two-dimensional anti-fluorite [LiSO4] layers stacking along the c-axis, with m-phenylenediamine molecules inserted in the anti-fluorite layers and forming hydrogen bonds to the SO42−. This explains a moderate anisotropic expansion in LPS.

The crystal structure of tezacaftor Form A has been solved and refined using synchrotron X-ray powder diffraction data, and optimized using density functional techniques. Tezacaftor Form A crystallizes in space group C2 (#5) with a = 21.05142(6), b = 6.60851(2), c = 17.76032(5) Å, β = 95.8255(2)°, V = 2458.027(7) Å3, and Z = 4. The crystal structure is dominated by van der Waals interactions. O–H⋯O hydrogen bonds link the molecules in chains along the b-axis, and there are a variety of C–H⋯O hydrogen bonds, both intra- and intermolecular.
